‘Snowfall’ Spin -Off in the lead role Gail Bean, Isaiah John gets FX Pilot Order

The “Snowfall” spin -off just took a big step forward, where the potential series scored a pilot order at FX, Variety has learned exclusively.
The titll -free drama was first reported to be in early development in 2023 prior to the ‘Snowfall’ serial final. As reported at the time, the “Snowfall” star Gail Bean will return for the spin-off in the role of Wanda Bell-Simmons. She will be accompanied by colleague -original cast member Isaiah John, who played Leon Simmons.
The official logline for the pilot states: “Probably the 90s Los Angeles shortly after the end of the original series, a healing addict (bean) strives to take the west coast rap mainstream despite potential fights from a moving gang war.”
Malcolm Spellman will write and implement the pilot, with “Snowfall” alums Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie Dejoie, Michael London and Trevor Engelson also produce executive. FX Productions is the studio.
Together with Bean and John, the cast of “Snowfall” Damson Idris, Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Sergio Peris Mecheta, Michael Hyatt, Amin Joseph, Angela Lewis and Alon Aboutboul included.
‘Snowfall’, made by the late Great John Singleton and Eric Amadio and Andron, explored the crack -cocaine epidemic in South Central LA through the perspective of different characters. They include budding drug kingpin Franklin Saint, CIA -Operative Teddy McDonald and cartel enforcer Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata. The very popular show was broadcast for six seasons on FX between 2017 and 2023.
