‘SNL’ should have ‘retired’ George Bush after Will Ferrell

Will Forte admits that Will Ferrell is a difficult act to follow.
While chatting with colleague “Saturday Night Live” Alum Amy Poehler on her “Good“Podcast, Forte, who came to the show after the last season of Ferrell in 2002, discussed the burden of playing George W. Bush on” SNL “.
“It was a huge cast,” said Forte. “It was, like 17 people, you try to get your things on, you try to be noticed. And then I somehow got the role of George Bush.”
Although it was a great opportunity to prove itself, Forte explained that impressions were not his strong suit, and that his placement in the role of Bush was ‘a match that was not made in heaven’. Moreover, Ferrell’s view on Bush is one of the most iconic imitation in the history of the “SNL”, making Forte’s Bar impossible.
“Will Ferrell was George Bush! He was George W. Bush. He was so good at it. Everyone who replaces … It’s like trying to replace the church lady,” he said in reference to the immortal “SNL” character of Dana Carvey. “Trying someone else to do that … He made it his own thing. They just had to retire.”
“But of course you can’t retire the sitting president on ‘SNL’,” Forte added. He further said he felt that his view of the 43rd president was eventually a “disappointment.”
Forte was eight seasons on “SNL” and left the show in 2010. Forte recently appeared in shows such as “The Four Seasons”, “The Great North”, “Bob’s Burgers”, “Sweet tooth” and “Clone High”.
