SND boards Canneseries’ French action comedy ‘My wife is a spy’

SND has acquired international distribution rights to “My Wife is a Spy”, a high concept of active comedy with Marie Gillain (“under the influence”) that the world premiered with Canneseries.
Directed by Leo Karmann, whose credits are “Simon’s Got a Gift”, the series is produced by Barbara Maubert for Kabo, a company owned by Asacha Media Group. The show is broadcast on Primetime on M6, the second largest commercial network in France.
“My wife is a spy” Stars Gillain like Isabelle, a married mother in the suburbs that comes out of a fall with extraordinary skills that have been sleeping for 20 years and suddenly starts to remember her past as a top secret agent. Realizing a part of her childhood has been erased from her memory, she decides to work again to understand what happened while they juggling with her children. The cast is completed by Arnaud Ducret (“Liar”, “A Perfect Man”), Nicolas Gob (“The Art of Crime”), Claire Koust (“Miss”) and Marc Riso (“A little extra extra”).
The show is produced by Barbara Maubert, whose credits include the “Killer Coaster” and “Derby Girl” series by Netflix. Maubert said: “My wife is a spy” is a “liberating series that sheds a light on a normal heroine that is confronted with the extraordinary.”
“This series is an ode to mothers and their hidden potential,” said Maubert, adding that it is “in the first place an adventurous comedy” with “colorful characters”.
Ramy Nahas, SND’s head of international sale, described “My wife is a spy” as a “fun popcorn comedy that delivers colorful action and fights”, in the spirit of Tex Avery or Jachie Chan.
“Léo Karmann has a unique sense of cinematography and stories,” Nahas said, adding that the adventures of the “both well -founded in reality and and exaggerated when she enters the world of spies.”
Speaking of Maubert, Nahas said “has an eye for a fascinating story about strong female characters who overcome obstacles in weird and unusual setups.”
The current SND sales also includes “The Girls We Want”, which will premiere worldwide in the director of Cannes.
