Sleazy secret of Bing Crosby’s widow going to grave revealed

Bing Crosby had a special way of letting his wife know about his bedroom plans for the night.
RadarOnline.com can reveal Kathryn Crosby revealed his “pajama button sex code” in her memoir My life with Bing.
Kathryn, who died Friday at the age of 90, heard how her husband would hint at what was to come that night when they started dating for the first time.

She wrote: “Shortly after we started dating, Bing invited me to stay with him and another couple at his house in Palm Springs.
“After dinner I put on my nightgown and jumped into bed. There was a knock on the door. There stood Bing in yellow cotton pajamas, buttoned all the way up to the neck. He gave me a kiss and then left.”
Later, Kathryn revealed that buttoning his pajamas was actually a secret code.
She said: ‘If they were tied to the top, Bing planned to read quietly in bed and it would be lights out by 10pm.
“If they were loose, it would be a very different evening.”

Kathryn and Bing Crosby met on the lot of Paramount Studios when she was a struggling 19-year-old actress. He was an established star, 31 years her senior.
She was writing a column about it Hollywood for her hometown newspaper when she interviewed him on the set of White Christmas in 1954.
They started dating a year later and married in 1957.
Kathryn often appeared on Mare Olde Christmas specials and hosted The Kathryn Crosby Showa 30-minute talk show in San Francisco.

Kathryn discovered that the legendary star had other quirks outside of his pajama routine during their 20 years together, including that he hated performing the biggest hit of his career. White Christmas.

She wrote, “Bing just hated performing it because it brought back painful memories of singing to homesick soldiers during World War II.
‘And he hated sick friends.
“Bing feared death and always avoided the last hours of friends and relatives because he wanted to remember them at their best.”

When it came time for his own death, his wife claimed that Bing was determined to bow out as quickly and gracefully as possible.
In 1977, the star collapsed while playing golf with a friend in Spain.
Kathryn said: “On October 14, I received a call from Bing’s friend and golf partner Caesar Zuleta, telling me that my husband had passed away. He was 74.”

A Crosby family representative announced that Kathryn died of natural causes at her home in Hillsborough, California.
She is survived by her and Bing’s three children, Harry, Mary and Nathaniel, as well as several grandchildren.
