Simon Cowell’s quest for ‘One Direction 2.0’ puts his relationship to the test

The series takes Cowell back to his roots: signing artists, shaping groups and chasing the commercial magic he used with projects like Pop idol, The X factor and, most famously, One Direction.
In the trailer, viewers get an unusually raw glimpse into his private life with 48-year-old Silverman. During a disagreement, she asks the production crew to stop shooting her.
The clip shows her telling Cowell: “I never complain, I’m just there for you. That’s what you do when you love someone. Can I take the mic off the mic?”
Cowell, who was receiving vitamins through an IV at the time, responds, “Oh, Lauren.”
Sources tell us that this moment, however brief, highlights how the weight of Cowell’s new endeavor – and the expectations attached to it – reverberates far beyond the studio.
