‘Selling Sunset’ Star Mary Bonnet Reveals How Much She Really Earns – While Exposing Her ‘Ironclad’ Prenup

“Sale of Sunset” Maria Bonnet has opened up about her highly lucrative career as a real estate agent, influencer and Netflix star, as she revealed how she protected her interests when entering into her second marriage by putting in place an ‘ironclad’ prenup.

The 45-year-old, who has been part of the cast of ‘Selling Sunset’ since its premiere in 2019, opened up about her marriage to Romain Bonnet32, and how her eye-watering earnings have contributed to a life of luxury.

During a performance op Jason Tartick’s podcast,”Trade Secrets”, Mary admitted that she is all for prenuptial agreements, having found herself in a situation where she had to “file for bankruptcy” when her first husband “took everything away from her,” leaving her in financial trouble.

While she insisted that Romain would never be capable of that kind of duplicity, Mary noted that she wouldn’t take any chances the second time, telling Tartick, “I’m very much in favor of a prenuptial agreement.”

She revealed that their initial prenup has evolved as her career has grown, which has seen her earn an impressive fortune from her real estate commissions, Netflix salary, and her earnings as a social media influencer.

“Because our situation has changed quite a bit since the beginning of the show and when Romain and I got married, we have more things to do [our prenup],” Mary noted, adding that they had amended their prenuptial agreement to include their home.

She assured fans their prenup is “very fair” even though she has “put the money aside” for the house – as she hit back at critics who accused her husband of being a “gold digger.”

“I make more money and Romain is fine with that, he doesn’t care,” she explained. “He contributes. People said he is a gold digger. He contributes and always wants to. He is a very stubborn man,” adding that she does not believe he “would ever try to take my money.

“Basically it says that any money I put into the house comes back to me first when we sell it. Then he gets an amount that we both decided was fair when we were in love and in a good place.”

Mary emphasized that the prenuptial agreement was entered into when they were “in love” and “understanding” because neither of them “wants to destroy that person’s life.”

She added that if she and Romain ever split, they will leave their marriage with what they had in it.

In terms of her earnings, Mary said she was fortunate to experience success very early in her career, admitting that she felt like she “got lucky” by selling three houses – while most agents manage at best to sell one in their debut year in the industry.

She revealed that the largest real estate deal she ever made totaled $35 million, but pointed out that her influential income far exceeds the money she makes as a real estate agent.

In total, she thinks her income from social media alone is around $1 million per year.

The news comes after Mary explains Gurus magazine that she quit drinking in the aftermath of the season 9 finale of the hit Netflix show, insisting that while she had “no problem” with drinking, she still felt like it was still taking a negative toll on her life.

That feeling was proven after she decided to give up alcohol – and replace cocktails with mocktails – only to discover that she felt better both physically and mentally.

“I didn’t have a problem; nothing bad happened. But I realized it wasn’t helping me anymore. What used to help me relax started giving me anxiety. So I stopped,” she explained.

“I’m the best version of myself. I have my mocktail and I’m proud of myself. I’m grounded and centered in a way I’ve never been.”

While quitting drinking has helped her enjoy a new chapter in her life, Mary noted that she has remained very grounded throughout the six years she has been on the Netflix show, despite the series propelling her to newfound fame.

“It’s just me. My friends and customers know I’m the same person from day 1. It’s easier to get a reservation now, but other than that nothing has changed,” she added.

However, Mary said she still faces some challenges, especially when it comes to social media.

“I don’t look at comments anymore. I’m sensitive. My team shows me the good ones, and I ask them not to show me the bad ones. It’s just not healthy,” she added.

Romain always helps her through the difficult moments.

“He always says, ‘They’re not going to talk to my wife like that.’ He is my rock,” she said.
