Savannah Guthrie’s current hosts respond to her missing mother

Savannah Guthrie‘S Today cohosts regard her family as her mother, Nancy Guthriehas been reported missing.

During the broadcast of Monday, February 2 Sheinelle Jones And Craig Melvin introduced the “very personal story” and shared a statement from Savannah, 54, and her family.

“On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and expressions of support. At this time, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mother,” the statement said. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”

Normally we wouldn’t have the sheriff come out to a scene like this. But what we’re learning from the house is very concerning. And so we’re just moving forward. The detective homicide team is also looking at the scene right now.”

When asked if foul play was suspected, Nanos shared that the possibility could not be “ruled out” at this time. The sheriff further noted that there were “some concerns” about what was found in Nancy’s home, prompting authorities to call in search and rescue teams and criminal investigation teams. The search will be assisted by volunteers on site, drones, dogs and a helicopter.

“We pretty much did everything we could,” Nanos added. “[Nancy] is 84 years old and not in good physical health, and that is of course a major concern.”

Nanos noted that Nancy has a “sound mind,” but there may be other limitations with her physical mobility. “We’ll be here all night finishing the house,” he said.

On Sunday, February 1, news broke that Nancy had been reported missing by her family around noon in Tucson, Arizona, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities noted that Nancy is a “vulnerable adult” and was last seen “at her residence” on Saturday, January 31.

Jenna Bush Hager

Jenna Bush Hager became emotional while discussing Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother during Monday’s broadcast Today with Jenna and Sheinelle.

“We have to start the show this morning with something that is very personal to us,” Bush Hager, 44, said as she fought back tears. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother and someone we love dearly around here, has been reported missing in Arizona.”

Bush Hager said she hoped viewers would call in with relevant information, noting that Nancy “takes medications daily” that she needs “to survive” and will likely be “off her medications.”

“We love Nancy, I know her personally,” she said before concluding, “We are now thinking of our dearest, dearest Savannah and her entire family. Our prayers obviously go out to Savannah.”

Willie Geist

Willie Geist shared a message to him social media followers on Monday, next to a photo of Nancy Guthrie. “If you have any information regarding the location of Nancy, the wonderful mother of our dear friend Savannah Guthrie, please call law enforcement in Arizona,” Geist wrote. “She’s missing.”

Savannah Guthrie’s co-anchor Craig Melvin provided valuable information to his followers as the search for Nancy Guthrie continued.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Savannah and her family,” Melvin said via Instagram on Monday. “We encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-4900.”

NBC News Special Anchor Mary Shriver shared her support for Savannah Guthrie online.

“Sending love to Savannah and her family, and gratitude to the police who are watching,” Shriver wrote via X on Monday.
