Sarah Silverman says that she was ‘ignorant’ for the use of blemish in stand-up

Sarah Silverman opens over her earlier use of racial statements in her stand-up and how she moved to less offensive material in the following years.
In a recent sit-down with Rolling stoneThe comedian said she once had the feeling that she could make a blast while performing stand-up because she “played a character” and knew that her real intentions were “always good”. With reflection years later, however, she now sees the error in her thinking.
“I felt that the temperature of the world around me was at the time:” We are all liberal, so we can say the N word. We are not racist, so we can say this derogatory stuff, “Silverman explains.” I played a character that was arrogant and ignorant, so I thought it was good. Looking back, my intentions were always good, but they were damn ignorant. ”
Silverman was heavily criticized because he appeared in Blackface during an episode of 2007 from her show ‘The Sarah Silverman Program’. She also caught warmth of Asian American activist groups for the use of Asain Slurs in her material.
Silverman has since apologized for such incidents and now sees himself more as ‘PC’. However, she claims that her relocation of offensive humor was not out of fear of making the masses upset.
“I don’t consider myself as a PC for fear,” says Silverman. “Some people got angry with me because I apologized.
