Ryanair CCO Jason McGuinness said:
“We are delighted to be in Liverpool today to celebrate more Ryanair investment and record growth for the North West, with the announcement of a sixth Ryanair aircraft in Liverpool for summer 2026, as well as 3 new routes to Marrakech, Tirana and Warsaw. Ryanair will also add additional flights on existing popular sun and city break routes, such as Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Ibiza and Krakow, taking traffic above 2.4 by 2026 million passengers per year.
Ryanair’s massive investment and growth in Liverpool (US$600 million) will deliver more than 2 million low-cost seats to 34 European destinations, giving customers in the North West more choice at the lowest fares in Europe, while boosting inbound tourism. As Ryanair grows in Liverpool next summer, other regional airports in the UK are being paralyzed by Rachel Reeves’ idiotic decision to increase APD. If the UK government is serious about delivering growth, they must abolish this criminal and damaging APD tax, which is making Britain (particularly regional airports) uncompetitive against EU countries such as Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia and regional Italy, which are abolishing aviation taxes and reducing entry costs to boost traffic, tourism and employment growth.
To celebrate Ryanair’s new aircraft and three new routes to Liverpool this summer, we have launched a limited-time seat sale with fares from £29.99, only available on Ryanair.com.”
John Irving, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport, said:
“As our longest serving airline partner for almost 40 years, with around 40 million of their passengers choosing to travel through Liverpool in that time, I would firstly like to thank Ryanair for their continued support and for this latest commitment. This news highlights the strategic importance of Liverpool John Lennon Airport to the city region and the wider North West and North Wales and will deliver more jobs, more investment and more choice for the region’s travellers, as well as those from abroad who visit the region through the airport.
As 2025 draws to a close, in what has been one of Liverpool Airport’s busiest years on record, Ryanair’s decision to base a sixth aircraft at Liverpool in 2026 with a further 250,000 seats on sale is likely to help the airport break all previous passenger records.”
