Roy Kapur Films, Pratilipi Partner to bring Indian stories to the screen

Indian Digital Storytelling Platform Pratilipi has forged a strategic content partnership with production house Roy Kapur films to develop together and produce a series of films and use series that use its extensive story universe.

Through the collaboration, the companies will jointly identify stories of the Pratilipi platform, co-invest in their development and pitch and produce them together for leading studios and streamers. The aim is to produce at least six projects in films and series for the next three years.

The first project under the partnership is ‘Charitrahen’, written by Priti Jadhav, a drama in the courtroom that has generated more than 21 million lectures on the Pratilipi app, with more than 244,000 reviews and a 4.88/5 -rating.

Pratilipi has more than 30 million monthly active users, 1.6 million writers and a catalog of millions of stories in 12 Indian languages.

Roy Kapur films, founded by experienced producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, brings production expertise and industrial relationships with the alliance. The company’s credits include “The Sky Is Pink”, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, original Netflix film “Yeh Ballet”, Netflix Crime Thriller series “Aranyak” and Sonyliv series “Rocket Boys”. Recent productions include “Deva”, “Pippa” and “Tumse Na Ho Payega.”

Pratilipi also possesses and operates Pratilipi FM, Pratilipi Comics, Westland Books and IVM Podcasts. The Platform likes stories to ecosystem partners for adaptation in streaming shows, TV series and films.
