Roblox announces short-form video feed for gameplay clips, new AI tools for creators, and more

Online Gaming Platform Roblox launches a Tiktok-like short video Gourte for sharing gameplay moments, the company unveiled on Friday on the Roblox Developers Conference. The company also announced an increased income for makers, new AI tools to stimulate making and other performance performance.
The new short video experience, called “Roblox Moments”, is launched in Beta for users aged 13 and older. This allows users to capture clips of their gameplay and edit and share those clips in a sliding feed. Users can crop their clip for a maximum of 30 seconds, add music and write a description before they share it.
In addition, users can be shared by the Roblox community through a Feed from GamePlay moments, respond to the clips with the help of emojis and jump into a video in an experience.
Later this year, Roblox is planning to open API-based opportunities for makers to enable them to build their own in-game creation and discovery systems. For example, makers can present trending clips and highlights from their own gameplay and make leaderboards for things such as the coolest catches in a racing game.

Roblox says that a gradual rollout of the function makes it possible to test and refine moderation to ensure that all content is suitable for age. All content is subject to moderation before they are posted, and users can report inappropriate videos.
Regarding the increased income for makers, Roblox increases the Devex (Developer exchange) Rate, which means that makers can earn 8.5% more when they convert their earned robux into cash. Now 100,000 earned robux will be equal to $ 380, instead of $ 350 when they are converted into cash.
“This is an important step that reinforces the dedication of the company in promoting an economy where more makers can thrive and success,” the company shared with WAN. “For example, the average turnover for a Top 1000 developer was almost $ 1 million, an increase of 2.9x since 2020.”

In terms of the new AI tools for makers, Roblox launches a series of new updates designed to offer artistic freedom, improved functionality and smarter development aid, says it.
Makers can go beyond generating static 3D objects thanks to a new way to generate fully functional objects, starting with selected vehicles and weapon categories. For example, a maker can offer the fast “a slender, futuristic red sports car”, and Roblox will generate an interactive car that can be driven. From there, makers can change the car to their liking, such as opening the doors of the car.

In addition, Roblox’s new real-time voice chat reverse language options VoiceChat will immediately translate into the mother tongue of the listener from next year for players who speak English, Spanish, French and German.
Roblox also announced new text-to-speech and speech-totext APIs to enable makers to build more compelling and interactive experiences.
The text-to-speech API makes immediate narrative and character dialogue possible with 10 adaptable English votes (with more soon), such as a non-playable character (NPC) that gives instructions. The speech-to-text API supports speech assignments, making gameplay promotions such as firing a cannon possible when a player says: “Fire!”
Roblox has also announced new progress in performance and loyalty, including a new mode called “Server Authority” that reduces in-game cheating and makes in-game physics interactions more realistic. Moreover, Avatars will soon have more lifelike movement, including running, climbing and arched about obstacles with natural momentum. There will also be improvements in complex actions for Avatars, such as grabbing items with fingers.
In addition, Roblox is planning to launch improvements so that the platform can be executed on a higher loyalty on all devices without requiring additional efforts from makers or to sacrifice performance.
The updates announced on Friday follow the recent announcement of Roblox that it is extending its age estimate technology to all users and cooperation with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) to introduce age and content assessments for games and apples on its platform. These developments come in the midst of continuous lawsuits on ensuring children’s safety.
