Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he once dumped the dead bear in Central Park as a prank
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s handling of a viral mystery that once baffled New Yorkers … and admitted to dumping a dead bear carcass in Central Park and jokingly throwing a bicycle on top of it.
The independent candidate for president posted a video on his official X account on Sunday describing the incident, apparently in anticipation of a story to be published soon by The New Yorker.
The bizarre video features RFK Jr. in a dining room and explains that he once went to Goshen, New York for a falconry tour and while driving there he claims that a woman ran over and killed a bear cub in front of him.
Kennedy, not one to waste good bear meat, says he grabbed the cub and threw it in his car — an action allowed under New York state law.
After a later-than-expected day of falconry, Kennedy says he drove to New York with friends instead of going home to Westchester to put the bear in the refrigerator.
Dinner also took a long time… and RFK Jr. had a flight to catch, but he didn’t want to leave the bear in his car.
Instead of calling someone to pick up the car with the bear in it, he and his dinner companions thought it would be funny to take the bear and put it in Central Park with an old bicycle on top.
At the time, RFK Jr. explained. out, a series of pedestrians had been hit and killed by cyclists in the park… and he and his – admittedly drunk – companions thought whoever found the bear would find it funny.
Naturally, they didn’t — and authorities, including the NYPD’s Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad, rushed to Central Park to investigate… eventually the investigation lost steam, and Kennedy says no one ever contacted him until the New Yorker investigators put two and two together.
Worth noting… Kennedy’s reaction during this video is quite nonchalant, even though many online are completely shocked by this saga.
It appears that Kennedy is ‘keeping’ his secrets… and we’ll have to see how voters react to the ‘gritty’ admission.
