Rob Reiner CBS News Special Ratings: 6.2 million viewers

The CBS News special “Rob Reiner – Scenes From a Life” averaged 6.2 million viewers on Sunday night.

According to Nielsen, 858,000 of those viewers fell into the adult 25-54 demographic.

The 45-minute special featured new interviews with friends of the late filmmaker, including Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry O’Connell and Mandy Patinkin, who reflected on his career and legacy. The interviews were supplemented with excerpts from CBS News interviews with Reiner himself over the years, including his most recent sit-down with Lesley Stahl on “60 Minutes,” which originally aired in the fall, as well as a look at his films “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “Misery,” “This Is Spinal Tap,” “The American President” and “Stand by Me,” plus his starring role in the 1990s CBS sitcom “All in the Family.” ’70.

“CBS News: Rob Reiner – Scenes from a Lifetime” is available on YouTube in addition to streaming on Paramount+.

Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on December 14. One of their sons, Nick Reiner, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder. According to their death certificates, the Reiners’ deaths occurred minutes after they suffered multiple sharp knife wounds. Nick could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted. He did not enter a plea when he first appeared in court on December 17.
