Rihanna stuns in glittering Alaia dress at New York Fashion Week
Rihanna shines bright like a diamond during New York Fashion Week.
The 36-year-old singer stepped out in a shimmering Alaïa dress at the designer’s New York Fashion Week show on Friday, September 6, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
Rihanna’s mesh corset dress was adorned with crystals and sleeves that draped off her shoulders. She wore matching stilettos and crystal earrings, and her black locks were worn loose and curled around her shoulders.
Earlier in the evening, the CEO of Savage x Fenty was in attendance In the front row every day‘s Fashion Media Awards as she wore another Alaïa dress – a pale pink one with a thigh-high slit – to present to her friend and fashion editor Jahleel Weaver with the Magazine of the Year prize Perfectnext to founder Katie Grand. (Weaver is also the creative director of Fenty Beauty.)
“Tonight I’m here to present an award to someone very special to me,” Rihanna said of Weaver during her speech. “Someone I have seen grow and evolve over the years. I saw you as a fashion baby, in your fashion diapers.
She continued, “I was in my fashion diapers at the time too and I witnessed you in all the layers, all the things that people, most people, won’t even be able to experience with you.” Rihanna concluded her speech by saying, “But you have been such a highlight in my growth and the fashion aspect of all things. I am so proud of you.”
Rihanna is heading into fall after a busy summer, having launched her new line of hair care products, aptly named Fenty Hair, in June. “You know how important it is for me to put my hair up,” Rihanna shared in a promotional video at the time.
“I’ve had almost every texture, color, length, from weaves to braids to natural – so I’m launching a flexible product line for not only every hair need, but every single product is designed to strengthen and repair all types of hair, and that’s what we really need,” she added. “It’s time to play and become strong through the style.”
