“You can’t sit with us” isn’t just a “Mean Girls” quote… it’s apparently a very real rule in Congress… and Rep. Sara Jacobs says she had to use it IRL!
TMZ spoke with the Democratic California congresswoman in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, and she spilled the tea on Capitol Hill, which is basically one giant high school… with cliques and cool kids and unofficial rules.
Watch the video… she takes us on the underground subway of Congress and explains how the lack of assigned seating on the House floor doesn’t mean you can just plop down wherever you want… because groups like ‘Penn Corner’ and ‘California Row’ have already closed off their unofficial spots like a school cafeteria.
Yes, the rules are so strict that she says she literally had to tell a newbie to get up and move that same day.
Sara also goes into full yearbook mode, explaining how Congress mirrors high school in every way: new member orientation, lottery-style office assignments like dormitories, clubs to join, the whole deal. So what if high school was your highlight? Congratulations…there’s a sequel to Capitol Hill!
