Rene Liu Helms Netflix Taiwanese drama ‘Forget You Not’
Netflix has set the Taiwanese drama series ‘Forget You Not’, directed by Multi-Hyfenaat Talent Rene Liu, who steps behind the camera after she has established herself as one of Taiwan’s most important actress singers.
The drama contains an ensemble cast with Golden Horse Award-winning actress Hsieh Ying-Xuan (“Born for the Spotlight”, “Wave Makers”), veteran actor Chou, Tracy Chou and Esther Liu (“At the moment”). The series also benefits from special performances by Wallace Huo (“Light the Night”), Wang Po-Chieh (“Eye of the Storm”) and Chen Yi-Wen (“The Pig, the Snake and the Pigeon”).
Against the background of a bustling metropolis, “Forget You Not” dives into the powerful role of memory within family dynamics. The story focuses on Cheng Le-le (Hsieh), a stand-up comedian Moonlight as an employee of the supermarket who has difficulty balancing her career ambitions with her marriage. While she houses dreams of a better future, she navigates complex relationships with her husband Chang Kai (Huo) and her father Cheng Kuang-Chi (Chin Han). These challenges push her on a transforming journey that again defines her understanding of family, love and friendship.
A central storyline focuses on the father-daughter band between Le-le and Kuang-Chi, with emotional efforts raised if she confronts her father’s deteriorating health.
“Forget You Not” is due to premiere on Netflix on 23 May, which marks another important addition to the growing Asian content library of the platform.
