Remarkable floating home in Sausalito that starred in Jennifer Garner’s hit ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ is on the market for $3 million

Floating on Sausalito’s famous waterfront is a picturesque houseboat, with enormous star power.
The 1,800-square-foot floating home at 58 Liberty Dock featured prominently in actress Jennifer Garner‘s hit 2023 AppleTV+ series, ‘The Last Thing He Told Me,’ also starring ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The limited series, which was based on Laura Dave’s bestselling novel of the same name, focused on Garner’s character, Hannah, her husband, Owen, and his daughter, Bailey, all living on the charming houseboat Sausalito in Northern California.
When Owen mysteriously disappears, Hannah sets out to find him, with the house serving as a much-needed refuge during that terrifying time.
The show attracted more than 3.4 million viewers during its premiere and many of the series’ earliest scenes were set within the walls of this home, with its weathered wood exterior, panoramic bay views and lived-in charm perfectly capturing the spirit of Sausalito’s iconic houseboat community.

Now that haven is ready to sail into the future, with a new owner at the helm, first listing last May for $3.4 million before dropping that price to $2.99 million.
Rooted in the creative legacy of its environment, this houseboat is part of a history that long predates its recent fame.
“The docks have long been home to artists and musicians Otis Redding, Dr. HookAnd Shell Silversteinwhose work reverberated across the bay,” said broker Blow Nashof Heath Real Estate, explains. “That legacy lingers here, in a home designed for inspiration and immersed in light, texture and sound.”
Today, that creative energy is evident in nearly every corner of the property, from the Douglas fir-framed living room to the glass-encased decks that hang over the bay.
“The design of the house encourages a life in constant dialogue with the water,” says Nash.
On the upper deck, infrared heating makes stargazing and waterfront dining possible all year round, while a Japanese-inspired soaking tub at water level makes bathing a Zen experience.
A gravity swing for two provides an idyllic spot for sunset cocktails with views of the Bay Bridge, while a lower deck provides an easy launching point for kayaks, paddleboards and motorboats.

The interiors offer a balance between rustic coziness and refined modernity.
The soaring double-height living room offers stunning views of the bay, while the entire lower level is dedicated to a serene master suite. In recent years, the two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home has also undergone a complete redesign.
The kitchen now features custom cabinetry, energy-efficient appliances and designer lighting, while the bathrooms have been transformed into spa retreats with high-end tiles.
“Every system and surface has been thoughtfully updated, with refined finishes throughout that combine contemporary comfort with the home’s distinctive character,” says Nash.
But despite all the updates, vintage details remain, including the original 1970s double vanity upstairs.
“It’s a nostalgic echo of the house’s creative heritage,” adds Nash.
The location is just as remarkable. One of Sausalito’s most coveted addresses, Liberty Dock offers a private setting still close to Bridgeway’s cafes, art studios, and ferry connections. Residents enjoy views of Mount Tamalpais and the San Francisco skyline, with the Golden Gate Bridge just minutes away.
“It’s living on the coast with a connection to the city,” says Nash. “A unique Marin experience that combines natural beauty, creative heritage and proximity to all the Bay has to offer.”
