‘Reacher’ Spinoff Series in Development at Amazon

A spinoff series ‘Reacher’ is currently in development at Amazon Prime Video, Variety has learned from sources.

According to sources, Nick Santora is writing the spin-off. Santora developed “Reacher” for television and serves as executive producer and showrunner of the series. Exact plot details for the spin-off are being kept under wraps, but it is believed the focus will be on Frances Neagley, who will be played by Maria Sten.

Amazon representatives declined to comment.

The move to develop more shows in the ‘Reacher’ world comes as no surprise, given the runaway success of the Alan Ritchson-led series based on Lee Childs’ Jack Reacher novels. “Reacher” was renewed for Season 3 on Prime Video before Season 2 had even aired. According to the streamer, the second season was the number one title worldwide on Prime Video for both series and movies in 2023 during its premiere weekend. The series’ global audience grew 50% between seasons in the first three days following the second season’s debut on December 15, 2023. The series also debuted at number two on the Nielsen top 10 streaming charts.

The third season will be based on the book ‘Persuader’. That book is the seventh in the Jack Reacher series, written by Child. The official logline for this season states: “Reacher must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a terrifying enemy from his past.”

Child is executive producer of “Reacher,” along with Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television. The series is produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance and CBS Studios (formerly Paramount Television Studios). Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid are the series executives for Skydance Television. Ritchson will serve as the show’s executive producer beginning with season 3.
