Radial Entertainment Content Library Stores: Strictly business

In today’s episode of VarietyOn the ‘Strictly Business’ podcast, Radial Entertainment CEO Jeff Shultz explains why he’s looking to build content libraries now that the Pluto TV and Paramount alum has taken the reins of the TV and film project backed by OakTree Capital Management. Radial was founded last year by OakTree’s combination of FilmRise and Shout Studios.
Shultz joined the company in January after a decade with Paramount and Pluto TV, the FAST channel pioneer. His range of experience, from startups to one of Hollywood’s largest studios, comes together at Radial Entertainment, where he sees tremendous growth potential amid the radical disruption of the global content ecosystem.
“Radial is the largest independent film and television catalog in the industry. So that’s 70,000 movies and shows, classic TV, huge fact and reality catalogs, an in-depth movie catalog, and then major new movies,” Shultz says. “And by independent I mean we are not a studio, we are not a division of a conglomerate. We are truly an independent player with integrated distribution. So we operate a diversified distribution portfolio, distributing via AVOD, VOD, broadcast, cable, transactional, even physical, theatrical, international. We operate a portfolio of hundreds of high-speed channels and directly generate billions of streaming hours per year. And then the third part is integrated capital. OakTree is an alternative asset manager valued at over $200 billion and is our strategic partner in growing the company.”
