Princess Kate feared her son would copy William’s life-threatening hobby

William got his motorcycle license at the age of 19 and in his 20s he embraced long-distance riding with his younger brother Prince Harry, 41.

The pair undertook a 1,000-mile off-road journey across South Africa to raise $677,000 for charity, an adventure that cemented William’s affection for cycling culture.

That history, insiders say, makes it harder for him to imagine banning it completely for his children. Kate isn’t the only one concerned about his daredevil hobby.

William’s father, King Charles III, 77, has expressed similar concerns. Recalling his sons’ childhood at a reception at St James’s Palace, the king said: “I always worry about them (riding motorbikes). It’s about other cars not being able to see you. I always tell my sons that.”

A family friend said those warnings still resonate. “With Charles expressing concern and Kate openly worried, the signal is unmistakable,” she added.

“Motorcycling may be something William grew up with, but it is far from certain that it will define George’s life.”
