Prince William describes the ‘challenges’ of telling children about Kate’s cancer

Middleton remained largely out of sight in 2024 while undergoing chemotherapy. She revealed in September that year that she had completed her treatment and in January she shared the wonderful news that her cancer was in remission.
The princess called the experience a “rollercoaster” during a July visit to a hospital in Colchester, England, as she revealed she still feel lingering effects.
“The treatment gives you a kind of brave face, stoicism. The treatment is over and it’s something like: ‘I can carry on again, get back to normal’, but actually that phase afterwards is a very difficult time,” she confessed to fellow cancer patients. “You can no longer function normally at home as you may once have been used to.”
“It’s life-changing for everyone, from the initial diagnosis or follow-up treatment and things like that. It’s a life-changing experience for the individual patient as well as the families,” Middleton told hospital staff.
“And actually sometimes it goes unrecognized. You don’t necessarily realize, especially if it’s the first time, how much of an impact it’s going to have. You have to find your new normal, and that takes time.”
