Pedro Pascal In the five years jumped in ‘The Last of Us’ season 2

In the coming second season of ‘The Last of Us’, the fraternal bond between Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Gabriel Luna’s Tommy remains an important relationship that bases the characters in the midst of the surrounding apocalyptic horror.

During a press conference moderated by Variety‘s Jazz Tangcay in Los Angeles described the actor the process of building that connection with Luna as an organic evolution from season 1 to season 2.

“I think there was just a very, very well -placed arch for us,” said Pascal. “I started the season with [Luna]. We started season 1 together on D-Day, right? And so there was a kind of binding, initiation process, which all stepped in. We had our rehearsals and pre-production. We went river ramps. ‘

Luna chimde in it: “We went river rafting, Bow River, which was really fun.”

Pascal noted that in season 1 the two characters were separated and reunited – “putting together in the snow together.”

“I had you there when I feel that much of my character’s meat started to show and had to be played,” Pascal said with Luna. “So in season 2 it felt like a really natural building of what we had established as characters and as scene partners.”

Luna agreed with Pascal and noticed: “I think when we first started, we had a very nice facetime call where I felt a very creepy familiarity with you.”

At the conference-including makers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann and other season 2 cast members such as Isabela Merced and Young Mazino Buddas Pascal the arrival of the long-awaited new season. “I think there is something very exciting to give everyone a different season of a show that everyone loved and that everyone worked so hard and did so much,” he said.

The actor was asked about his way of thinking when approaching the five -year jump from season 1 to season 2. The character of Pascal, Joel, and the character of Bella Ramsey, Ellie, are somewhat alienated at the start of the second season.

Pascal said to Ramsey: “I feel that it was a wonderful setup of Craig and Neil that the first thing I got only you and I was and in a kind of intimate setting. There is an incredibly painful distance between the two of them and playing the scene, but we still had to fuck and laughs and laughs like that.

For Pascal, this role is distinguished from others.

“My way of thinking was grateful to be back and yet, at the same time, this experience, more than any other I have had, is difficult for me to separate what the characters are going through and how it feels, in a way that is not very healthy. And so I feel their pain,” Pascal said.

“I suppose I was in an unhealthy mindset,” he added, laughing.

The series, took place in a post-apocalyptic world full of people who have been converted into Zombie-like creatures by a virus, debuted for the first time in 2023. Pascal answered a question about the current relevance of “The Last of Us”, in which he commented on “telling stories is cathartic”.

“There is a very healthy and sometimes sick pleasure in that kind of catharsis and a safe space to see human relationships under crisis and to draw a political allegory, social allegory in pain and intelligent, and to base it on the world in which we live,” he said.

Pascal answered a question about the impact of the show on his life and public profile.

“This job has definitely created a new chapter in my life in an in -depth way because of the personal experience I had made, and then of course the way the show was received,” said Pascal.

He acknowledged that the show “is received in a way that is in size with how deeply important it means for us all, is a rare thing.”

The show is an “anchor” when receiving more public attention, he said. Pascal praised Kaitlyn Dever, who came in season 2 when the character Abby. “It also happened in season 2, as when we met, it was as if I had admired your work for so many years, and I could not believe that I had to be with you in scenes,” Pascal said.

Pascal was also asked about the protection of Joel about Ellie and whether he is inspired by one of his own relationships. “I protect the people I love, and I think that is probably the most important part that I relate to,” he said.
