Pat Tookey-Dickson joins the ‘A remarkable woman’ of Anastasiia Starova

The British producer Pat Tobey-Dickson, whose credits include the “1899” series from Netflix and the hit Comedy “Ghosts” by BBC Studios, has a period of Dramedy of the Ukrainian-Canadian writer-writer Anastasiiaa on board “A Remarkable Woman”.
The project is co-produced by the right-handed productions of Tookey-Dickson in the United Kingdom and in Canada, a remarkable female productions, which marks a transatlantic alliance around a story with a strong feminist and international resonance.
Invoiced by Starova as ” Fleagag ‘in a corset’ or ” Emily in Paris ‘à la Proust,’ The eight-part series combines the allure of Belle Époque Paris with the chaotic energy of Gen Z stories.
Inspired by the diaries of the Ukrainian artist and feminist Marie Bashkirtseff – considered as the world’s first female influencer – the show visits her last years in the 1880s, when she tried to face the mortality by putting her own image and fame together.
In the series, Marie, an ambitious young woman from Kleine Adel, learns that her lung disease is terminally. Convinced that she was intended for star, she starts a reckless mission to reach fame before her time is over.
While her humor, charm and determination draw her attention, merging health, social prejudices and family tensions against her collaboration.
The series investigates the tension between self-expression and mortality and Castbashkirtseff as a proto-modern heroin whose voice resonates more than a century later.
“‘A remarkable woman’ is the story of the first influencer – a tragicomic, modern voice that breaks through history to speak to us today,” Starova said Variety. “It’s Belle Époque in all its glory, but tonal pure gene z: chaotic, raw and way too real.”
In the development, the series has already recruited industrial recognition, which participated in Midpoint Series Launch 2022 and the winning of best co -product titch on SeriCamp 2025.
The mix of historical biopian, social satire and feminist edge is in line with a growing trend for hybrid dramas that anchor themselves in real events while pushing stylistic boundaries.
The producers of ‘A Remarkable Woman’, selected to play on the co-production and financing forum of Iberseries & Platino Industria 2025, currently hold private meetings with potential co-producers.
