Oscars Ratings 2025: 18.1 million viewers

Just under 18.1 million people coordinated on Sunday in ABC’s broadcast of the 97th Academy Awards, which marks a fall of 7% compared to the previous year.
That total, which comes from a combination of Nielsen’s measurement of linear viewers on ABC Plus Livestreams on Hulu, indicates the first drop in viewers of the ceremony in four years. In 2021, the first ceremony saw a low point of 10.4 million viewers of all time after the start of the COVID-19 Pandemie, but the largest night of Hollywood was seen three years later consecutive growth, with 16.6 million viewers being struck in 2023 and 19.5 million in 2024 in 2022.
Yet 18.1 million was sufficient to turn the Oscars the most viewed and primetime entertainment (which means non-sports and non-nobs) broadcast of the TV season 2024-2025 so far. It also had the highest rating among adults aged 18-49 this season with a 3.92, an increase of 3% compared to last year. And when isolated for adults 18-34, it was the highest rated Oscars in five years with a 3.17.
It should also be noted that the Hulu live stream was interrupted by technical difficulties. Less than half an hour after the ceremony, more than 34,000 users reported problems that have access to the streamer on Down detector. At 5:48 pm, almost two hours later, the X account for Hulu support that the service had been restored to affected users, but problems were reported again by the end of the ceremony, just before the announcement of the best photo winner. Because the broadcast was planned to conclude at 7:32 PM, but for a long time, some users lost access to the live stream early. It can be assumed that the total viewers of the viewers would at least have been slightly higher if they are not for these technical errors; At the same time, this is the first year that Disney has the Oscars on Hulu Simulcast, so streaming numbers do not take into account the totals of previous years.
This year’s Oscars were organized by First-Timer Conan O’Brien, who received positive reviews for his appearance on the Dolby stage. “Anora” was the biggest winner of the night, was named Best Photo In addition to Mikey Madison’s best actress winning and Sean Baker’s victories for best director, editing and original SCREREPLAY.
