OpenAI ramps up developer push with more powerful models in its API

OpenAI revealed new API updates on his DEV Day on Monday and introduced GPT-5 Pro, the newest language model, the new model generation model Sora 2 and a smaller, cheaper speech model.
The updates were part of a series of announcements aimed at the Wooing of Developers to open the OpenAI ecosystem, including the launch of an aid for building agent and the possibility to build apps in chatgpt.
The addition of GPT-5 Pro can rely on developers who build applications in finance, legal and health care industries that need “high accuracy and depth of reasoning” by OpenAI CEO SAM Altman.
Altman also noted that speech possibilities will be essential in the future, because it quickly becomes one of the most important ways in which people use to communicate with AI. To this end, OpenAI launches ‘GPT-REALTIME MINI’, a smaller, cheaper speech model in API that supports streaming interactions with low latency for audio and speech. The new model is 70% cheaper than that of OpenAi Previously advanced speech model But promises the “same speech quality and expressiveness.”
Finally, makers involved in the OpenAI’s Ecosystem from OpenAI can now use Sora 2 in an example in the API. OpenAi released Sora 2, the newest audio and videoerator, last week together with the Sora app, a Tiktok competitor filled with short AI-generated videos. With the Sora app, users can generate videos of themselves, friends or something based on a prompt and share these via an algorithmic feed in tapping style.
‘[Developers] I now have access to the same model that feeds the stunning video outputs from Sora 2 directly in your own app, “said Altman.
Sora 2 builds on his previous generation with more realistic, physically consistent scenes with synchronized sound and greater creative control – from detailed camera direction to stylized visuals.

“For example, you can take the iPhone display and bring Sora to extend it into a sweeping, cinematic shot,” said Altman. “But one of the most exciting things we have worked on is how good this new model pairs sound with visuals, not only speech, but rich soundscapes, ambient audio, synchronized effects based on what you see.”
Sora 2 is pitched as a tool for concept development, whether it is a visual starting point for an advertisement based on the general atmosphere of a product, changes for a Mattel designer from a sketch in a toy concept-a example that Altman has on dev day that is throwing light on the Toys of the Barbie-maker with the Barbie maker.
