OpenAI is building five new Stargate data centers with Oracle and SoftBank
Openi announced On Tuesday it is planning to build five new AI data centers in the United States with partners Oracle and Softbank via its Stargate project. The new data centers bring the planned capacity of Stargate to seven Gigawatt – enough energy to provide more than five million houses with electricity.
Three of the new sites are being developed with Oracle. They are located in Shackelford County, Texas; Doña Ana County, New Mexico; And an unknown location in the midwest. The other two sites are developed with Softbank, with one in Lordstown, Ohio and the other in Milam County, Texas.
The new data centers from Stargate AI are part of the enormous infrastructurebuild -out of OpenAi, because the company works to train and operate more powerful AI models. On Monday, OpenAI said it would receive an investment of $ 100 billion from Nvidia to buy the AI processors from the chip maker and to expand even more AI data centers.
