Ontario International Airport reports passenger growth of more than 6% in February | News


The number of passengers traveling through Ontario International Airport (ONT) increased by 6.3% in February and freight traffic grew by 10.3% compared to the same month last year.
The Gateway to Southern California reported that more than 478,000 passengers flew in and out of ONT last month. Domestic volume grew by 2.1% – to 433,094 – while the number of international customers remained strong, up 55.1% – to 55,531.

Year-to-date, the number of air passengers has risen to more than 971,000, an increase of 5%. The number of domestic travelers remained virtually stable at 849,708, while the number of international travelers was 121,812, an increase of 60%.

“As we approach a decade of local ownership, ONT has emerged as a gateway that reflects the energy and growth of the Inland Empire and greater Southern California. Our focus on accessibility and ease of travel continues to resonate with passengers and airlines alike, and we are proud to play a central role in connecting this dynamic region to the world,” said Atif Elkadi, CEO of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA).

The airlines with the largest passenger shares in February were:

Southwest Airlines (35.4%)
US airlines (17.0%)
Alaska Airlines (10.6%)
Delta Air lines (9.0%)
United Airlines (8.9%)
Air freight grew by 10.1% overall in February, while commercial freight increased by 13.1%, while mail volume fell by 5.4%.
