OMNAM GROUP ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF THE COMO EDITION | News

European-based hospitality real estate developer and investor, Omnam Group, announces the opening of The Lake Como EDITION; a highly anticipated luxury hotel on the western shore of Lake Como, Italy. The hotel was acquired by Bain Capital and Omnam at the end of 2021 through a fund managed by Kryalos SGR and operating under Marriott International’s EDITION Hotels brand. It represents a carefully executed redevelopment of the historic Hotel Britannia Excelsior. The project reflects Omnam’s distinctive approach to value creation: identifying architecturally significant assets in prime destinations and transforming them into globally relevant hospitality experiences through strategic brand partnerships, rigorous design and disciplined project execution.

Led by Italy Country Manager Yaniv Medalsy, Project Manager Shay Zabari and Omnam’s global team, the redevelopment began in April 2022 with the aim of creating a property that seamlessly balances the palazzo’s 19th-century heritage with contemporary luxury. Major interventions included retaining most of the historic facade, introducing a brand new drop-off area for arrivals, reducing the number of rooms to increase accommodation, and adding a terrace restaurant, Renzo, offering all-day dining in an area with panoramic lake views.

The development brings together an international group of collaborators, including architecture and interiors from Neri&Hu and De.Tales, a signature culinary concept from Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, wellness programs from The Longevity Suite and art curated by Visto alongside Omnam’s in-house project leadership, design and operations team, and supported by Bain Capital’s asset management team. Together, these partners have created a destination where contemporary elegance meets the timeless natural beauty of Lake Como.

The interior and architectural direction of The Lake Como EDITION seeks to offer a new perspective on one of Europe’s most traditional design destinations, striking a refined balance between modern conceptual ideas and a deep respect for the building’s 19th century heritage. The design seamlessly integrates contemporary forms with the local design heritage, connecting the property to its lakeside environment, while maximizing natural light, views and spatial proportions throughout.

The hotel features 148 rooms and suites across seven room types, including rooms in Villa Gina, four dining options, a spa and fitness center and Lake Como’s largest floating swimming pool. The rooms are equipped with custom-made walnut furniture, Neri&Hu sofas, hand-tufted carpets and Calacatta Gold stone in the bathrooms. Many rooms offer lake views or restored French balconies. Materials throughout the property have been carefully curated by the teams, including marble from MGS, ceramics from Marazzi, millwork from Extra Ordinario, Pianca and SkillMax, textiles from Kvadrat, Jaipur and Class Design, and fixtures from Axor and Laufen. Lighting combines bespoke pieces from MIIC, Flos and Artemide, while furnishings from Cassina, Vitra, Zanotta, B&B Italia, Molteni and Thonet complement bespoke outdoor seating from Talenti and TRIBU, creating a cohesive, sophisticated environment in both interiors and outdoor spaces.

The floating pool serves as a social center for hotel guests, with a pool bar, lounge and private dock for boat trips, further integrating the building, water and surrounding landscape. Later this summer, Omnam’s newest venture, Omnam Design Studio (ODS), will open The Lido, a second pool and lido space complete with bar and restaurant, designed as a destination for both hotel guests and the public.

The Lake Como EDITION will offer four distinct dining options, some of which will be available exclusively to hotel guests, and others open to the general public, reflecting Omnam’s approach to design-led, community-oriented hospitality. Chef Mauro Colagreco’s first restaurant in Italy, Cetino serves inventive dishes inspired by the lake, sea and land, including Rosa di Branzino with daikon and citrus, Ravioli di Trota with smoked goat cheese cream, Salt-Crusted Catch of the Day and Lamb Roll with salsa verde. At Renzo, a beautiful pergola-shaded terrace surrounded by Mediterranean herbs, citrus trees and panoramic lake views, guests can enjoy their breakfast and later in the day a menu of modern Italian dishes. The Pool Bar offers casual, Mediterranean-inspired poolside dining, including crispy octopus tacos, fish burgers and bright, satisfying tramezzini. The Lobby Bar serves refined cocktails and light bites beneath five-metre-high vaulted ceilings and celadon marble elegance. Together, the four locations combine exceptional design, world-class cuisine and immersive lakeside experiences, creating a signature gastronomic program at the heart of the hotel.

Wellness is a central pillar of the guest experience and is delivered in partnership with The Longevity Suite, a pioneering Italian wellness brand. Omnam oversaw the integration of The Longevity SPA, combining advanced diagnostics, biohacking technologies and holistic treatments to support cellular regeneration, metabolic balance and mental clarity. Facilities include seven treatment rooms (including a couples suite), Finnish and herbal saunas, steam and Turkish baths, an indoor heated pool, a cold plunge pool and access to the lake’s floating pool. Treatments such as the Iki-Sabi Ritual and the Ultimate Biohacking Protocol provide cutting-edge wellness experiences, while the hotel’s lightweight, Technogym-equipped fitness center and seasonal programs including sunrise yoga and guided mountain hikes provide a complete wellness offering.

Founded in 2011 by David Zisser, Omnam Group has built a reputation for delivering complex, design-led hospitality developments in culturally significant locations across Europe. From acquisition and sourcing partners and financing to design, construction, pre-opening operations and ongoing pre-launch project management, Omnam fully oversees every stage of a property’s transformation. The Lake Como EDITION exemplifies Omnam’s end-to-end development philosophy: creating landmark hotels that celebrate local culture, community and design, maximize investment value and deliver an enhanced guest experience.

“I am very proud of our team today as this marks an important moment for Omnam’s evolution,” said David Zisser, Founder and CEO of Omnam Group. “Transforming this historic lakeside property into a contemporary, design-led destination required not only years of collaboration, vision and dedication from an exceptional group of partners, but also the courage to prioritize design and cultural authenticity over a safer, more formal approach. The Lake Como EDITION reflects our belief that hospitality developments should celebrate their surroundings while keeping up with the needs of the modern traveler and delivering lasting value for operators and investors alike.”
