Oliver Hudson says his children don’t know how iconic Goldie Hawn is

Oliver Hudson is well aware that he grew up in a home of Hollywood royalty, but his children are somewhat unaware of their grandmother’s influence on the entertainment industry.
“She definitely has an influence on my kids, whether they know it or not, you know what I mean?” Hudson, 49, told exclusively We weekly from his legendary mother, Goldie Hawnwhile attending the Make-A-Wish Foundation Gala at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Beverly Hills on Friday, December 5.
According to Hudson, the children are Wilder, Bodhi and Rio, whom he shares with his wife Erinn Bartlett, know who “Goldie Hawn” is, but that doesn’t mean they fully understand how the rest of the world perceives their grandmother.
“They don’t see her that way,” he explained. “They see her as ‘Go Go’ – as grandma. We call her ‘Go Go’, [that’s] mother, and ‘Go Gee’ is Kurt [Russell]. So yes, they see her [and him] like Go Go and Go Gee, but they understand the most.”
He continued, “I’m not sure they understand how iconic she really is and how she defined a generation for women. They will in time. They will learn.”

“You know, my mom was my therapist before I had a therapist,” he said Us. “She’s always been my sounding board. I mean, she’s the wisest woman I know. She’s been through it all herself. You know, her story is amazing.”
He added, “I want to make a documentary about her life because it’s really fascinating — the independence, how she came up dancing in go-go cages, living alone in New York City and teaching kids how to dance. I mean, she lived through it, and so she’s the person to go to if you have a question or an idea of, ‘How do I do this?’ or, ‘How do I do that?’”
Hudson grew up in a mixed family after his mother reconnected with fellow actor Russell on the set of 1983 Swing shift. Hawn shares daughter Kate Hudson and son Oliver with ex-husband Bill Hudson. Russell, for his part, is father to son Boston Russelwhich he shares with his ex-wife Season Hubley. Whale Hawn and Kurt famously decided not to walk down the aisle. They completed their family in 1986 with the birth of their son, who is now also an actor. Wyatt Russell.
“My mom said that’s when she fell in love with Kurt,” Kate said in a 2019 episode of her podcast “Sibling Rivalry” when talking to her brother about the time her mom brought Kurt to meet her kids. “Because she brought him back home and we were already asleep, and we shared a room, and he sat next to each of us, he sat next to you first and watched you sleep and then came over.”
