Oasis ‘reunites’ and vows not to split before tour
Nearly a year before their highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour, Noel and Liam Gallagher shared the stage together for the first time this year on ‘Saturday Night Live’… sort of.
James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman went on “Weekend Update” with long-estranged Gallagher brothers and promised host Colin Jost that they won’t split again before their tour next year.
“Everyone’s wondering: Will you guys be cool to tour in a year?” Jost asked the Gallaghers.
“I’m cool when he’s cool,” Johnson’s Noel replied.
“I’m cool, I’m cool, I’m cooler than you,” Sherman’s Liam shot back. Jost was not convinced. “Great, so that’s a no.”
The Oasis reunion tour is already shaping up to be the biggest concert experience of 2025, with recently added US tour dates and thousands of fans rushing online to get seats.
“It’s not a hard no, it’s a maybe,” Sherman responded, at which point Johnson began broadcasting the “I said maybe” lyrics from “Wonderwall.” Like classic bickering brothers, Johnson’s Noel changed the words to “when Liam doesn’t act like a baby” and the two started calling each other a “baby” and sticking their tongues out at each other.
To Jost’s relief, the two brothers finally agreed on one topic: their favorite cartoon characters.
Singer Ariana Grande hosted the episode of “Saturday Night Live” and is currently promoting “Wicked,” the first of a two-part film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. She stars as Galinda Upland opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba Thropp. The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Peter Dinklage and more. It will be released on November 22 and “Part Two” will be released next year.
