Nothing launches AI tool for building mini apps using prompts

AI-driven app development is really starting, and smartphone maker seems to have nothing to do with the tire wagon: the company revealed on Monday PlaygroundAn AI tool with which users can make apps with simple text prompts and use them in a kind of platform that is known as essential apps.
You can currently use all Playground Building Widgets, such as a flight tracker, a next meeting assignment or a virtual pet all over again with the help of text prompts, or adjust an existing app on the Essential Apps platform for your purposes. More technical users can change the code to refine how an app works.
Nothing says it is not yet to have developers built on full screen apps, because the technology is currently not mature enough.

The launch of the atmospheric coding comes only a few weeks after nothing $ 200 million has collected in a round led by Tiger Global. At the time, nothing said that CEO Carl Pei said that the company wanted to build a operating system with AI-driven functions, in addition to the development of new AI-centric devices.
In a conversation with WAN last week, Pei said that smartphone makers are reluctant to change software.
“Something that has always disturbed me is why we do not improve software? Many people look at what large companies like Apple do, and follow because that is the safer path. I think software iteration is very slow,” Pei said.
“With breakthroughs in AI we believe that operating systems will change and become more personal. Our devices have so much context about us, but that is not being used now,” he added.

That said, nothing has only launched one AI-compatible app so far: Essential Space has users share screenshots, record speech notes and get transcription for meetings. It is worth noting that most modern smartphone operating systems nowadays can do all of this and more, and if they can’t do that, there is nothing to prevent users from installing AI apps on their phones easily.

Nothing has made a name for himself as a smartphone manufacturer, but it is still a small company compared to Google, Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Apple and Samsung. According to data from analysis company IDC, the company has less than 1% share in the global smartphone market.
But Pei finds nothing beneficial. He said earlier that the company wants to build hardware specifically for the use of AI, and if it can get the right to smartphones, building hardware with specific use cases would be easier.
Vibe coding is promising on paper, but so far apps that have tried have offered a similar functionality on smartphones, per data from analysis company AppFigures, usually because of security And maintenance problems. Pei acknowledged this and said that maintaining security while developers can make apps in the future will be crucial in the future.
“We have millions of users on our devices. So what we send must be easy to use and difficult to make a mistake. That is why a security level with these apps will be important for us,” he said.
At the moment the company is not being charged for these AI tools, and a paid layer does not seem to be in the making now. Pei said that the focus is on building a lively community around the new tool and recognizing people who make good contributions.
