Richard Taitesays an addiction recovery expert Nick ReinierNick’s relationship with his famous father and grandfather may have led to his self-esteem issues growing up… and he says Nick’s struggles and extensive history in rehab may have been a result of that.
As you know, Nick Reiner is accused of murdering his parents. Rob And Michelle Reiner …and Nick had been in and out of rehab before for substance abuse, and that was it diagnosed with schizophrenia before the tragedy.
Taite – the founder and executive chairman of Carrara Treatment – points out that mental illness is almost always linked to drug addiction and alcoholism, saying “they are one and the same.”
Nick was in rehab at least 18 times. Taite says rehab centers operate at different levels of quality, but they all focus on mental illness as the common correlate with substance abuse.
Taite also points out the pressures in his career and general life that Nick may have experienced as his grandfather Carl Reiner was “a national treasure” and his father Rob became just as, if not more, successful and famous, and his mother was also known as a photographer and producer.
Richard says it’s common for celebrity kids to feel this pressure and sign up for substance abuse treatment if they feel like their success doesn’t equate to that of their family bloodline.
Regarding the way Nick’s mental illness was treated during his time in rehab, Taite tells TMZ that there are “substandard treatment centers” that may not be providing Nick with what he needs… “that’s how the world works.”
Dope podcast
Like us previously reported … Nick was a patient at Alina Lodge – an addiction treatment center in New Jersey – and spoke on the ‘Dopey’ podcast in 2016 about a time when the staff refused to give him medication… which led to him throwing a rock through a window to “show these motherfuckers I’m crazy.”
Dr. Jeffrey Liebermanformer president of the American Psychiatric Association, told TMZ yesterday aftercare in rehabilitation programs is generally inadequate, resulting in a revolving door repetition of treatment and release… with many of the facilities said to have failed Nick and his family.
