New royal titles for William’s children when he takes the throne

When William becomes king, George will see the most immediate changes.
As the eldest son and heir, he will automatically inherit the Duchy of Cornwall and become Duke of Cornwall once his father ascends.
In Scotland, he will also take the title Duke of Rothesay, along with several subordinate titles traditionally held by the heir to the throne.
“Some transitions are dictated by long-standing legal frameworks and not by personal choices,” the royal historian said.
“In those cases, the titles are transferred immediately when a new monarch takes over the throne.”
It is also widely expected that George will become Prince of Wales, although the timing is not certain.
William himself was 40 and married when Charles became king in 2022, allowing the title to be conferred immediately.
“William has the option to delay bestowing certain honors until George has matured further or has reached a major milestone in his life, such as marriage,” our source added.
“History shows that monarchs have often taken a measured and unhurried approach in similar situations.”
