Netflix’s number 9 English series ever

Season 5 of “Stranger Things” was added to Netflix’s list of the most popular English-language TV titles of all time, immediately after it became eligible with the release of the series finale on New Year’s Eve.

In total, the season has been viewed 105.7 million times so far. Netflix compiles its all-time list by counting views during each title’s first 91 days of viewing; for batch releases like ‘Stranger Things’, views are counted during the first 91 days of each volume. Since Part 1 of Season 5 of “Stranger Things” debuted on November 26, these four episodes will continue to attract strong viewers through February 24, while the three episodes of Part 2 will be counted from December 25 to March 25 and the viewership for the finale will be from December 31 to March 31.

Therefore, season 5 of “Stranger Things” has three months to continue rising on the all-time chart. With its current spot at No. 9, it has knocked “Fool Me Once” off the charts and surpassed Season 1’s “The Night Agent.” Season 4 of “Stranger Things,” released in 2022, remains No. 3 on the chart to this day (140.7 million), surpassed only by “Wednesday” Season 1 (252.1 million views) and “Adolescence” (142.6 million). Considering that Season 5 of “Stranger Things” achieved the biggest opening ever for an English-language series from Netflix with 59.6 million views, it seems possible that the sci-fi series’ latest entry could hit No. 1.

Of course, Season 5 of “Stranger Things” was the most-watched title for the week of December 29 through January. 4, during the finals, was available for five days and was viewed a total of 31.5 million times. While Netflix didn’t provide viewership totals just for the finale, it should be noted that the weekly total would have been even higher had Netflix not decided to simultaneously debut the finale in theaters, where it grossed over $25 million.

Additionally, all previous seasons of “Stranger Things” remained on the charts for the sixth week in a row: Season 1 was No. 3 with 7.6 million views, Season 2 was No. 5 with 5.5 million, Season 3 was No. 7 with 5 million and Season 4 was No. 8 with 4.8 million.

In addition to ‘Stranger Things’, the Netflix Top 10 is available for December 29 to January. At No. 4 was Harlan Coben’s “Run Away,” which debuted at No. 2 with 12.7 million views in its first four days of availability. Season 5 of “Emily in Paris” ranked No. 4 with 7.4 million views in its third week on chat. At No. 6 was the Ricky Gervais special “Mortality,” which debuted with 5.1 million views in six days. “Man vs. Baby” had its fourth week on the chart at No. 9 with 4 million views and was followed by “Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable…” at No. 10 with 2.8 million views.
