Netflix launches Yule Logs for Squid Game, Bridgerton, Spellbound

Now burning on Netflix: a new twist on the classic TV Christmas log.

With less than two weeks to go before Christmas, Netflix has launched three themed virtual Christmas logs, each 60 minutes long, based on Shonda Rhimes’ ‘Bridgerton’ series, the South Korean hit ‘Squid Game’ (which is premiering season 2 on December 26) and animated film “Spellbound” by director Vicky Jenson with music by Alan Menken.

The Christmas Logs are available to Netflix members worldwide. The Bridgerton Fireplace is (of course) in the Bridgerton living room and provides background music from the series. Squid Game’s version is set in the Head Man’s office, while the Spellbound Fireplace isn’t a fireplace at all – it’s a campfire in the magical wilderness of the film’s fantasy kingdom of Lumbria. Netflix has equipped each Christmas block with Easter eggs for eagle-eyed fans. In the ‘Bridgerton’ scene you will find Lady Whistledown’s quill, one of her folded newsletters and a bouquet of wisteria. The “Squid Game Fireplace” includes the Chieftain’s green phone; Younghee, the terrifying red light/green light puppet; two guards keeping watch; dalgona candies in a can, nodding to season 1’s candy challenge; and the jazz diorama from the Front Man’s lair. The “Spellbound” Christmas log features the enchanting forest of Wisteria glowing in the background in a scene straight from the film, soundtracked by Menken.

Netflix has also highlighted a range of merchandise and experiences for fans of ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘Squid Game’. That includes ‘The Official Bridgerton Cookbook’, the Bridgerton x Williams Sonoma hosting collection and Bridgerton concerts by candlelighta series of ticketed events featuring “the best songs from Netflix’s critically acclaimed Shondaland series in the glow of thousands of candles,” with dates planned for locations around the world.

“Squid Game” product tie-ins include limited-edition bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label Squid Game Edition, a Puma x Squid Game tracksuit and the brand’s Crocs. The company also launched “Squid Game: The Experience” in New York City, which allows visitors to play “iconic challenges” from the show in real life.
