Nathan Fielder shows Paramount+ as Nazis, anti -Semitic

In an episode of 2015 from the Reality -Comedy series ‘Nathan For You’, Nathan Fielder starts an outdoor clothing line called Summit Ice. It had come under his attention that the Canadian label behind his favorite winter jacket, Taiga, had published a tribute to the Holocaust -Denier Doug Collins. So Fielder, who is Jewish, started a competitive brand and donated all proceeds to Holocaust education.

In the hope of selling Summit Ice Jackets in stores, Fielder recruits a rabbi to design a striking retail display that shows the brand’s mission. As the nature of “Nathan for you” who was broadcast on Comedy Central of 2013-2017-Is ridiculously ridiculous and presents their clothing behind a replica of the Auschwitz-Poort, Swastika Wenspel and a fake skeleton in an oven.

As expected, the owner of the store rejects the field and says Fielder: “Look for something else with your life, because you are not good at this.” Anyway, Summit Ice left and became a joke under fans of Fielder, who generated $ 300,000 in sales in the first eight weeks of the company, with a profit served to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Center. Ten years later, Fielder probably collected millions of dollars for the consciousness of Holocaust.

In a new episode of ‘The Rehearsal’, his HBO -Comedy series that fades in the same way the line between fiction and reality, Fielder Summit Ice mentions his ‘proud performance’, and uses it as an example of something ‘stupid’ that ‘actually has an impact in the world’.

Apparently not everyone supports Fielder’s approach.

In the episode of Sunday of “The Rehearsal” (Spoilers Vooruit), the comedian reveals that he discovered at the end of 2023 that the episode of “Nathan For You” with the Summit Ice Story was scrubbed from Paramount+, where the Comedy Central Show streams. (“Nathan for you” also streams on Max, in addition to “the rehearsal.”)

Variety has confirmed that the episode “Nathan For You” does not stream in question on Paramount+ follows what a source describes as a “standards review”. The episode is available to stream Max.

Fielder says he mailed his contacts on Paramount+ E -to ask why the episode was deleted, and they confirmed that it was a deliberate decision because of ‘sensitivities’. Fielder presented a recreation of his e -mail correspondence with Paramount+ and says that the streamer was going to further clarify: “A decision was made by Paramount+ Germany to remove the episode in their region after they felt uncomfortable with what they called everything that touches anti -Semitism in the aftermath of the Israel/Hamas -attacks

Fielder continues to say that the decision of Paramount+ Germany “has caused the attention of other European Paramount branches and they in turn also pulled the episode. It was not long before the ideology of Paramount+ Germany had spread to the whole world, so that all Jewish content was eliminated that made them uncomfortable.” (He tells this as he shows a map of the wrinkle effect, whereby the Paramount+ brand is featured with the spread of Nazism.)

HBO

To make even worse, Fielder accuses the streamer of ‘erasing’ Jewish people, which shows that there are 50 search results on the platform for ‘Nazi’, 10 for ‘Hitler’ and zero for ‘Judaism’. Test this experiment, Variety Likewise, 50 results for “Nazi” and 10 for “Hitler”. Many of the results are documentaries from the Second World War, but many random titles also pop up, including March Madness Games and the A24 film “Minari”. There is one result for ‘Judaism’, a short film series from 2022 from Showtime called ‘Spotlights’. A search for “Christianity” raises two documentaries and “Islam” generates 50 results, including “Love Island”, “Fire Island” and “Monkey Island” – probably to take typing errors into account. (It is safe to say that the Paramount+ search engine is shaky.)

Because the dissertation of ‘the rehearsal’ is that people can prepare for the challenges of life by ‘rehearsing’ them in extensive, hyper -realistic simulations, Fielder builds a replica of the Paramount+ Germany offices and hires an actor to play a streaming -sexCutive. Fielder thought he was too respectful in his first correspondence with Paramount+ because the streamer also wore his showtime series ‘The Curse’, which should not yet be renewed for a different season. So he wanted another chance of confrontation.

“I didn’t know what the offices of the Paramount+ Germany looked like, so I had to get a bit of a gamble,” says Fielder in the episode, a hilarious remark of someone whose research until extreme length goes for even the most minutes of his television series.

Nevertheless, Fielder enters his ‘replica’, a grandiose building with huge paramount+ banners hanging on the ceiling. (Look known?) To understand why the episode of the Summit Ice has been removed, he sits down with the thick accentuated ‘executive’, which explains, in dialogue written by Fielder, ‘In Germany Today we have no tolerance for images that hate or incitement to every group of people.’

HBO

Fielder then tells the actor to improvise – although it is very unlikely that this part was not scripted – and the “Paramount+ Executive” lies in Fielder for letting his prejudices a “unpleasant” approach to conflict solution. “You designed this office to look like a war room, dressed to look like a Nazi,” he says. “Pretend you want feedback, but you don’t really want to get the Paramount+ Perspective or the German perspective.”

HBO

When the actor Fielder calls a man with a resentment who uses his TV program to lubricate us’, it serves as a built-in refutation of the Metaphor of Fielder. (Sources indicate Variety That Paramount+ did not get a head about this storyline through the Show or HBO. The episode was probably deleted by the legal department of HBO before release, just like the standard procedure with satirical content involving real companies.)

Contacted by VarietyParamount+ did not comment. A spokesperson for the company refused to answer further questions, including Fielder’s image of Paramount+ as Nazi Germany, why the delivery does not meet its standards or that it will ever be placed on the platform.
