‘Mirzapur’ Ster Ali Fazal to lead Prime Video Crime Thriller ‘Raakh’

Ali Fazal (“Mirzapur”) will the upcoming Indian research thriller “Raakh”, alongside Sonali Bendre (“The Broken News”) and Aamir Bashir (“Tiger 3”) of Prime Video ‘Raakh’, Headline.

The series, produced by Endemolshine India and Gulbadan Talkies, will be produced and directed by Prose Roy (“Paatal Lok”), with Anusha Nandakumar (“Singham Again”) and Sandep Saket (“Indian Police Force”) that serve as Makers, Schrijst and Directors. Ayush Trivedi (“Indian Police Force”) deals with dialogue tasks for the project, which will premiere in 2026.

“With Prime Video we want to tell the limits of traditional stories and bring nuanced stories to our customers,” said Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals at Prime Video India. “On the surface, ‘Raakh’ is a thriller full of unexpected turns and drama with high bet. In the core, however, this is a very emotional story that will stay with the audience long after they have finished watching.”

Madhok added that the series represents “one of the most powerful stories we have told on Prime Video” and praised the casting of Fazal, Bendre and Bashir for bringing “This high-stakes world created by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandep Saket to life.”

The series marks an important project for Fazal, which has built up an international profile by roles in films such as “Victoria & Abdul” and “Death On The Nile”, as well as Hit Prime video series “Mirzapur”.

Rishi Negi, Group Chief Operating Officer at Banijay Asia and Endemolshine India, positioned the series as more than a conventional crime thriller and described it as “a laminated, character -driven story that disputes the limits of morality, justice and consequence.”

“The series reflects the evolving appetite of the Indian and global audience for stories that are both emotionally complex and genre-forward,” Negi said. “We are very happy to work with Prime Video to bring this ambitious, emotionally charged story around the world.”

Director Prose Roy emphasized the thematic ambitions of the series and called “Raakh” a “deep compelling world pushing boundaries while exploring the complex layers of human nature.”

“Anusha and Sandep have made a story that delves into the gray areas of morality, justice and redemption, while the viewers keep them thoroughly involved,” said Roy. “For me, the series represents a daring step forward in Indian Storytelling, with an intense drama with nuanced character studies.”

The project remains the expansion of Prime Video of his Indian originals Slate, which includes series such as “Paatal Lok”, “Panchayat”, “Mirzapur”, “The Family Man” and “Made in Heaven”, as well as “Citadel: Honey Bunny” and “Dahad”.
