Meta unveils new smart glasses with a display and wristband controller

Meta unveiled a new pair of smart glasses from Ray-Ban Branded on Wednesday with a built-in display for apps, warnings and instructions on the right lens. The smart glasses are controlled by a wristband that grabs subtle hand gestures, meta neural band, the same, the same that it revealed during last year’s connect as part of his Orion demo.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced the new product, Meta Ray-Ban-Display, on stage on stage at the annual developer conference of the company, Meta Connect 2025. In contrast to Orion, Zuckerberg says that this is a product that people can buy in a few weeks, from 30 September, and they cost $ 799.
This is Meta’s newest attempt to send a few smart glasses from the consumer who can handle many of the tasks that users traditionally do on a smartphone. For years, Meta is forced to reach users through the devices of his competitors, namely who sold by Google and Apple. Although Meta has invested billions in virtual reality headsets, AI-driven smart glasses now seem the most promising way for the company to make contact with users on its own hardware.
With the Meta Ray-Ban display, Meta wants to build the success of its original Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses, which the company has sold Millions of pairs From with his glasses partner, Essilorluxottics. Just like Ray-Ban Meta, the Meta Ray-Ban display is equipped with an AI assistant on board, as well as cameras, speakers and microphones. With the glasses, users can connect to the cloud to gain access to internet and social media apps.

Meta says it enables display users to do much more with their smart glasses. Users can display meta apps such as Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. Users can also view route description and see live translations in the display of the smart glasses.
The neural band that is sent next to the device looks like a Fitbit, but without a screen, and allows users to navigate apps with small hand movements. Zuckerberg said on stage that the meta -neural band has 18 hours of battery life and is water -resistant.
The device uses electromyography (EMG) to pick up signals that are sent between your brain and your hand when performing a gesture. Meta gambles on this interface will be a new way in which users can control their devices.

Earlier this week, one Video leaked From the latest smart glasses from Meta. CNBC and Bloomberg previously reported that the smart glasses, which were internal codenamy Hypernova, would be unveiled this year at the Connect conference of Connect.
It is worth noting that Meta Ray-Ban display is much less capable than the Orion Smart Glasses meta showed up on Connect 2024. That device contained augmented reality lenses and eye tracking, while this pair uses a much simpler display. It can take years before Meta ever sells Orion.
Nevertheless, Meta hopes that it can win the Smart Glasses race by being the first to market with a real product. However, it seems likely that Google and Apple will launch smart glasses of themselves in the coming years. Those devices will undoubtedly be able to integrate into the respective operating systems of Google and Apple, giving them a considerable advantage over Meta.
