Meta rolls out AI-powered translations to creators globally, starting with English and Spanish

Meta rolls out an AI-driven speech rejected function for all users on Facebook and Instagram worldwide, the company announced On Tuesday.

The new function, which is available in every market where Meta AI is available, enables makers to translate content into other languages, so that it can be viewed by a wider audience.

The position was first announced on the Connect Developer Conference of Meta last year, where the company said that the automatic translations of maker voices in roles on both Facebook and Instagram would be tested.

Meta notes that the AI translations will use the sound and tone of the maker’s own voice to make the dubbed voice sound authentic when translating the content into a new language.

In addition, makers can optionally use a LIP sync function to align the translation with their lip movements, making it look more natural.

With the launch, the function of English to Spanish and Vice Versa supports, with more languages that must be added over time. These AI translations are available for Facebook -makers with 1,000 or more followers and all public Instagram accounts worldwide, where Meta AI is offered.

To access the option, makers can click on “Translate your voice with Meta Ai” before they publish their reel. Makers can then switch the switch button to switch on translations and choose whether they also want to record lip synchronization. When they click on “Share” to publish their reel, the translation is automatically available.

Makers can view translations and lip synchronizations before they are publicly posted and both can switch off option at any time. (Rejecting the translation does not affect the original reel, the company notes.) Viewers looking at the translated reel will see a notification at the bottom that indicates that it has been translated with Meta Ai. Those who do not want to see translated roles in selected languages can disable this in the Settings menu.

Makers also have access to a new metric in their insight panel, where they can see their opinion per language. This can help them better understand how their content reaches a new audience through translations – something that will be more useful as extra languages are supported over time.

Meta orders Those makers who want to use the function forward, speak and avoid to cover their mouths while recording. Minimum background noise or music also helps. The function only supports a maximum of two speakers and they are not allowed to talk about each other for the translation to work.

Meta says that more languages will be supported in the future, but not describe which the neighbor would be or when.
