Meta Connect 2025: What to expect and how to watch

Meta Connect 2025 – the largest conference of the year of the year where it reveals smart glasses and headsets – starts on Wednesday evening. We expect that the star of Meta Connect 2025 is the new AI-driven smart glasses from the company with Ray-Ban and Oakley, but the company may have other surprises in the Metasperse store, Quest Headsets or even the wider AI ambitions.

Meta says it has sold Millions of Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses, and earlier this year, Meta revealed its latest AI-driven smart glasses with Oakley, which are designed for athletes. Silicon Valley leans heavily in AI Wearables and Meta seems to be one of the companies that are in charge.

In particular, this is the first Connect conference of the company since the Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) has started, his braviest effort to develop advanced AI systems under the former AI CEO Alexandr Wang. It is possible that we get some official updates on how that project is going, and we may hear from some MSL managers.

While Meta seems to regain the foot in the AI race, this year’s Connect mainly feels consequences.

How to look

What to expect

There have already been several leaks about what will be announced on Meta Connect 2025. Perhaps the biggest relation to a new type of smart glasses called Hypernova.

A now deleted video on Meta YouTube channelSpotted by UploadVR, showed a few Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses with a heads-up display on the right lens, as well as cameras, microphones and a built-in AI assistant.

The glasses in the video were driven by a wristband, which was unveiled during last year’s connect and is controlled by subtle hand gestures.

The video suggests that Meta will reveal and perhaps launch the Hypernova glasses this week. CNBC previously reported that Meta was planning Unveiling Hypernova And launch the wristband on Connect 2025.

Meta probably also seems to reveal a new pair of smart glasses that it has developed with Oakley on Connect 2025. The companies are expected to launch a new pair of AI-driven smart glasses in Oakley’s Spheara style. This has a large uniform lens on the front – an ideal shape for runners and cyclists. In contrast to earlier meta smart glasses, this model has one centered camera above the nose bridge, instead of two cameras on the upper corners of the frames.

On the VR front it is unclear whether Meta will release new Quest Headsets as part of this year’s Connect. Although the conference and the company are named after the metaverse, it seems that this year is less of the focus. Meta is reportedly developed An ultra -light VR headset For the launch towards the end of 2026, however, the company could wait to show that at next year’s connect.

That said, Meta promises that Zuckerberg will talk about the metaverse in some form. We don’t doubt that.

As far as Meta’s AI ambitions are concerned, it would not be surprising if Zuckerberg Connect 2025 used as an opportunity to emphasize all the work that MSL does. The company’s first Llamacon, the AI Developer Conference, took place earlier this year before Meta invested billions in scale AI and hired researchers from the entire industry.

At present, the Standalone AI app from Meta is in a confusing place where it controls both smart glasses and can be used as an AI chatbot. It is possible that App also gets some updates that make it easier to use.
