Meta acquires voice startup Play AI

Meta has acquired Play aiA startup that uses AI to generate human voices.
A Meta spokesperson has confirmed the acquisition, According to BloombergWhich also reports that an internal memo stated that the “entire Playai team” will come to the company next week. (WAN has also contacted Meta for confirmation.)
Meta’s memo reportedly said that Playai’s “work in creating natural voices, together with a platform for simple speech creation, a great match is for our work and route map, about AI characters, meta AI, wearables and audio content creation.”
The company has made major investments in AI, including aggressive recruitment from OpenAi and a deal with a -scale AI where the CEO of the company Alexandr Wang joins Meta to lead a new group aimed at super intelligence.
The financial conditions of the acquisition were not announced. Bloomberg had previously reported that the two companies were in acquisition talks.
