Meredith announced on September 9 during an emotional eulogy for her late husband that she was in her “ninth week of pregnancy” with the couple’s third child. “Noa, our oldest, hasn’t even turned two yet,” Meredith said at the time. “In less than three years of marriage, we have created a family of five. It doesn’t even sound possible. But I consider it the ultimate blessing. How lucky am I to be the mother of John’s three babies? Our last one was a blessing and so special, despite these difficult circumstances.”
Madeline Gaudreauthe wife of the late Matthew, is also pregnant with the couple’s first child.
Just a week ago, Meredith and the extended Columbus Blue Jackets community gathered to celebrate Johnny with the couple’s two children. (Meredith is also mom to son Johnny, 8 months, whom she shared with her late husband.)
Meredith shared sweet memories of the celebration via Instagram, posting a carousel of images after it wrapped. “Thank you to all our babies, hockey uncles and aunts, for keeping us so close to this community and including Noa and Johnny in everything. John looks down with so much pride and I know I am so grateful that you all have taken care of me the way you have been,” she captioned the post. “The entire organization. I feel at home when I am with all of you. I can’t thank you enough from the depths of my broken heart.”
She then turned her attention to Johnny’s adoring fans. “Thank you to all the fans for your love for John. Far and wide. I saved every post and hold them so tightly to show our children,” Meredith continued in the post. “Noa asks for ‘more daddy hockey’ every night before she goes to bed. I love John so much and am so grateful to be able to watch so many of John’s videos, listen to his voice in interviews and admire his perfect smile in everyone’s messages and tributes. I pray they never stop. It means more to me than I can express.”
Meredith concluded her message with words addressed to her late husband, revealing her continued love for him. “Thank you for giving me our hockey family, our children and such a beautiful life as your wife. You are and will always be my everything. I love you so much,” she wrote. “The best dad ever. The best husband. You set the bar high (hockey and at home) and we all strive to be like you every day. Thanks for that. I love you forever, my Reggies.
