Mercedes Moné AEW Double of Nothing 2025 Interview Jamie Hayter

Since her arrival in all elite struggles, there are few championships that Mercedes Moné has not won. From the TBS championship to the New Japan Strong Women’s Championship to the Revpro Unified Queen of Southside title, the self-proclaimed CEO of Wrestling has fully informed the landscape of the AEW Women’s Division, which is unbeaten in Singles competition with a record of 21-0.

But although it might be easier to list Mercedes titles has not Then kept the one she has, there is still one big belt in the way that she misses: the AEW Women’s Championship. This weekend at AEW Double of Nothing in Phoenix, the CEO set its sights on winning the Owen Hart Foundation Cup – an annual tournament that gives the winner an automatic shot at the world champion.

Standing between Moné and the victory in the Owen is the former world champion Women’s world champion Jamie Hayter, who dropped Billie Starkz and Kris Statlander to qualify for the final of the tournament.

“I have not confronted Jamie one-on-one in the ring, but watched her things during the week and prepare for double or nothing, she is really one of the best in the game,” says Moné. “She is strong, she is fierce, she is tough. But I am Mercedes Moné. I am a student of the game. I travel around the world, struggles the best women, beats the best women. For me it is just a strong competitor to get through.”

If she can get through Hayter, Moné will claim the Owen Cup and secure themselves a shot at the AEW Women’s Championship, currently in the hands of “Timeless” Toni Storm. Although Moné and Storm both struggled for WWE, AEW and Stardom, the two have never met one-on-one in the ring-a fact that Moné wants to remedy.

“For me it comes to the next level, and that goes into everything: Texas and confronted with that, the only timeless Toni Storm, which has a goal of mine since I came to AEW. She is just so fascinating and she steals the show every week.”

But before Moné can get her long -awaited match against Storm: In Texas, Storm has a title defense with double or nothing against the newly signed Mina Shirakawa.

“I definitely want to face Mina Shirakawa again one day, but my eyes are first on Toni Storm, just because we have such a small history. I struggled Mina on the Tokyo Dome at the start of the year, and I just had a three-way with her on the New Japan show where I unfortunately lost my new Japan Strong Women’s Championship against Azm.”

“But Mina is another great competitor who has just made her full -time debut with AEW, and I am super enthusiastic that she is here and joins our women’s roster,” says Moné. “She brings so much charismatic energy to the ring. My eyes are aimed at Toni Storm, but whether it is Toni or Mina, I am really enthusiastic about that competition.”

In addition to Storm vs Shirakawa, Moné also has her eyes anarchy in the Arena, a Uber violent, no-holds-Barred Six-on-Six Tag-Match with wrestlers who are arranged outside the ring and by the stands. Bubbly Former TBS champion Willow Nightingale will be confronted with Marina Shafir in the anarchy in the Arena, what the first time women participated in the competition.

“It’s pretty crazy. I’m such a big fan of Willow Nightingale – there is just something about her, when she comes out, she makes you smile and just make you so happy to watch,” says Moné. “It is so strange to see someone who is so vibrant and charismatic, throw it down and gets in violence, but I am super enthusiastic about it and for her to be the first woman to be an AEW Pay-per-view.”

Regarding which team she is rooting for merging with anarchy in the Arena? “I absolutely have to vote for my EPPs,” says Moné, referring to AEW -Executive vice presidents Matt and Nicholas Jackson, who joined Shafir and the Death Riders to take Nightingale, the OPPS and Strickland. Although she is not interested in participating in ultra-violent competitions such as anarchy in the Arena, Moné says that she would like to struggle members of the AEW men’s grid.

“I definitely want an inter-gender match or a mixed tag match. I think people like it [Speedball] Mike Bailey, Ricochet, Swerve [Strickland]Komander, The Beast Mortos, [Kazuchika] Okada, there are just so many men I would like to work with and fight against. Dream competitions are endless in time. “

Another frequent location for dream competitions in AEW is the annual forbidden door pay-per-view, which is held in collaboration with New Japan Pro Wrestling. After recently dropping one of her (many) titles on NJPW’s AZM, Moné wants to continue a Rematch at Forbidden in August.

“I definitely want to have a singles match with azm -she has stolen my New Japan Strong Women’s Championship. Also at Stardom I really love Starlight Kid, so a singles match with her would be a dream match. With grand slam around the corner comes awew his way to Mexico to see me to go for it to go for me to go for it to go for me to go for it to be me to be out to me for me to get me out to me for that to me to me to be out to me for that to me. Mexico. ”

While Moné looks at her future and the Women World Championship, she also celebrates an important milestone from her past: the 10th birthday of her NXT Women’s Championship match against Bayley at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. Although they may no longer be in the same wrestling promotion, Moné says that Bayley will always be an important part of her wrestling career.

“We started working together with the same dream and the same goals. She was the first person I really looked at and was like” Oh my God, she reminds me so much of myself. “She loves wrestling just as much as I do, and we have the same dreams and the same drive in what we want for struggling women in professional wrestling.

“It’s crazy because it feels like yesterday,” says Moné. “It was so great, it is so unbelievable to this day how many people come to me and talk to me about that competition, or how that is the competition that inspired them to become a wrestler. Bayley has always been there for me. It is so important to have someone who finds out so much, and someone who wants to share that dream with you.”

Thinking about how she has grown since her WWE Main Roster debut (less than a month away from her takeover Brooklyn match with Bayley), says the now 15-year-old veteran that she has learned how to play the game and grow within the system.

“Every year I try to get better and try to leave an inheritance that people can remember forever. I want to be here to help the wrestling of women and especially to make it worldwide, where people are known for how much passion and drive they have. I just want to get better and raise the game forever.”
