Meliá is recognized for the ninth year in a row in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026 | News


For the ninth year in a row, Meliá Hotels International has been included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, the industry benchmark publication that recognizes companies with the best sustainability performance worldwide. In this edition, the company has been recognized as the Top 10% of its sector, Hotels, Resorts & Cruise Lines, a milestone that confirms its international leadership in sustainable tourism and the robustness of its strategy to integrate ESG criteria throughout the value chain.

According to the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), Meliá achieved a score of 77 out of 100, making it the first hotel group in Europe and the third company worldwide in its sector, after Thailand’s Asset World Corporation (a real estate group that owns a hotel portfolio) and technology company Amadeus. Among the highlights, the company achieved the maximum score of 100 points in areas such as transparency and reporting, materiality analysis, tax strategy and governance, emission reduction. Objectives, limiting impacts on biodiversity and other important dimensions of responsible business management.

Meliá also recorded significant improvements in strategic areas including supply chain management, waste management programs, water management and the social dimension, with notable progress in human capital, human rights and occupational health. Recognition in the Sustainability Yearbook – the world’s most comprehensive and prestigious assessment of corporate sustainability – represents a strong external endorsement of Meliá’s commitment to a sustainable growth model that creates value for the destinations where the company operates and strengthens the confidence of customers, investors, employees and other stakeholders.

As leaders in leisure hospitality for seventy years, we have enthusiastically embraced the responsibility and legacy of continuing to maximize the positive impact of our activities on our people, the communities in which we operate and the natural environment of our destinations. “In this edition, S&P Global assessed more than 9,200 companies, of which only 848 earned a place in the yearbook. In the Hotels, Resorts & Cruise Lines sector, 57 companies were assessed and only 6 were selected worldwide.

This award adds to the many recognitions Meliá Hotels International has recently received for its ESG performance, including being included in the list of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies by TIME magazine, the World’s Most Trustworthy Companies by Newsweek, and its position as an industry leader in the MERCO ESG rankings, further consolidating its reputation as one of the most responsible and committed hotel companies in the world.
