Megyn Kelly addresses Melania Trump’s ‘bizarre’ Epstein denial

“Why did she do this?”
The host said the timing was strange, noting that the controversy did not dominate headlines.
During a recent episode by The Megyn Kelly ShowKelly made it clear that she was baffled by the decision to delve into the controversy now.
“Why did she do this?” Kelly asked. “That’s really what everyone was wondering. Why? Everyone knows it. Everyone in PR knows: once the storm has passed, you don’t do anything to stop the storm from happening again.’
She was left wondering why the issue was being revisited at all in the current news cycle.
“If she doesn’t want people to talk about her relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell, or whatever it was with Epstein, then she shouldn’t talk about her relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell or Jeffrey Epstein,” she said, adding, “especially when — has that been in the news? Did any of you see that in the news? The news right now is non-stop Iran.”

Melania breaks her silence
She stated firmly that she was never friends with Epstein and had no relationship with him or Ghislaine Maxwell.
The comments came after the first lady issued a rare and forceful denial addressing long-running speculation about her alleged connections.
“The lies linking me to the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein must end today,” Trump said. “The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethics, humility and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their petty attempts to smear my reputation. I have never been friends with Epstein.”
She doubled down on the denial, emphasizing: “To be clear, I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell.”

“Was this meant to distract people?”
Kelly speculated that the statement could be a distraction amid ongoing global tensions surrounding Iran.
Kelly went on to offer theories as to why the statement surfaced now, suggesting it may not have been a coincidence.
“Was this intended to distract people from Iran? For example, did they use Epstein to distract from Iran and then Iran to distract from Epstein? And then Epstein again to distract from Iran?” she asked. “I have no idea, but I do know that it is very strange that this woman, who has been media savvy for ten years now, because she was not at the center of the storm, decided to make herself the center of the storm.”
She added that the timing felt especially wrong given how little attention the topic had received.
“Right now it seems like she’s reacting to little, little things that have been released about her that no one was talking about… so now we’ve spent the last 18 hours trying to figure out, what is it that has upset her? If anything, unless this is just a way to distract us from something,” Kelly said.

‘It’s so bizarre’
She ultimately described the move as “bizarre” and said even seasoned media figures were left confused.
The host emphasized that the public reaction seemed out of character for the famously private first lady.
“She has been at the center of much bigger media storms and hardly ever talks. Almost never,” Kelly said, referring to past controversies.
“But she never really feels the need to explain it to herself,” she continued. “She’s like royalty in that respect. You know how the royal family never complains and never explains anything? That’s their motto. It’s also kind of her motto.’
Summing up her reaction, Kelly admitted, “We’re scratching our heads. It’s so bizarre.’
She also asked broader questions about the situation, adding, “I don’t really know what Melania is asking for, and I don’t know what the victims want at this point. Most of them have already been paid out by this Epstein fund, if they have legitimate claims. Or in some cases, even if they might not, but could convince someone.”
