Max sets Marco Bellocchio series ‘Portobello’ as the first Italy original

Max has respected Italian author Marco Bellocchio’s TV series “Portobello” as his first Italian scripted original. The show tells the story of the Italian TV -hostor Enzo Tortora, who was the victim of one of Italy’s most clamorous transvesties of justice, and will debut on the platform in 2026.

Max is now available in around 25 countries in Europe, about Spain, France, Benelux, the Nordics and Central and Eastern Europe. It is now clear that the streamer of Warner Bros. discovery in 2026 will also be operational in Italy.

In 1985, Tortora was accused by various alleged ex-Mobsters who played informants and witnesses of the State of a Napolitan crime syndicate dedicated to drug trafficking. After enduring a long -term process, sentenced to 10 years in prison and spent some time behind bars, the conviction of Tortora was ultimately completely destroyed by the Italian Supreme Court in 1987 in the midst of widespread beliefs that the TV gastheer was the victim of Corrupte Judges and prosecutors.

The production on “Portobello” started last September in Rome and will also take place in the Sardinia, Campania and Lombardic regions in Italy. The cast “Portobello” consists of frequent Bellocchio -employee Fabrizio Gifuni as Enzo Tortora, Plus Lino Musella, Romana Maggiora Vergano, Barbora Bobulova, Alessandro Preziosi and Fausto Russo Alesi.

Gifuni previously played as former Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro in the limited TV series ‘External Night’ by Bellocchio about the kidnapping and murder of the leader of the country by the terrorists of Red Brigades.

The prestige series is produced by Rome-based our films, owned by Mediawan, and Kavac film in co-production with Arte France and in collaboration with Fremantle’s The Apartment Pictures. The series is produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for our films and by Simone Gattoni for Kavac.

“Portobello” is written by Bellocchio, Stefano Bisses (“Gomorra”), Giordana Mari (“My Love”) and Peppe Fiore (“The King”). Cinematography is from Francesco di Giacomo, set design by Andrea Castorina, costume designs by Daria Calvelli, adaptation by Francesca Calvelli and music by Teho Teardo.
