‘Martin’ Spinoff ‘Varnell Hill’ with Tommy Davidson in the lead role in Bet
Tommy Davidson will repeat his “Martin” roll by Varnell Hill in a spin -off from the Sitcom of the 90s, arranged by Bet+ and created by Martin Lawrence and Bentley Kyle Evans.
The series brings viewers behind the scenes of ‘The Varnell Hill Show’, the fictional talk show Late Night organized by the Davidson character. It is a comedy in the workplace in the midst of the chaos of TV production.
According to the Logline: “The series is investigating Varnell’s journey to remain relevant in an ever-evolving industry and the business dynamics of network managers, business stakeholders and creative teams involved in making the show. With its mix of satire, humor, cutaways and fourth-walled way, the show.”
It is unclear whether Lawrence will repeat its role in the new series as the rival of Varnell, but the series promises “a combination of exciting new characters and celebrity -guests”.
Lawrence Executive produces alongside Evans, who is also the writer, director and showrunner. Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, Andy Horne, Stacy Lyles, Robert Lawrence and Rae Proctor will also serve as executive producers, and Rose Catherine Pinkney and Jason Harvey are EPS for Bet+.
“Did you miss me? Well, now you don’t have to do that!” Davidson said in a statement. “I am excited and honored to be part of such a creative project with the brilliant spirit of Martin Lawrence, more than 30 years in the making. Fans have asked for it and now it is coming to the+!”
Davidson is represented by innovative artists. Lawrence is first represented by Uta and artists.
