Marriott International, Inc. today announced the signing of a groundbreaking agreement with KS Hotels to introduce The Luxury Collection to Cambodia and Laos through the renovation of two legendary boutique hotels: La Résidence Angkor in Siem Reap and La Résidence Phou Vao in Luang Prabang. The agreement marks Marriott’s entry into Laos and the debut of The Luxury Collection in both countries.

Both properties have long been regarded as icons within their respective destinations and will undergo thoughtful improvements to align with The Luxury Collection’s global standards, whilst maintaining their architectural character, cultural authenticity and long-standing heritage. The properties’ anticipated additions to the brand’s curated portfolio herald a new chapter, bringing internationally recognized luxury to properties deeply rooted there.

“This signing marks a decisive milestone for Marriott International as it represents the company’s debut hotel in Laos and the introduction of The Luxury Collection to two inspiring, culturally rich destinations,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International. “Perfect for discerning global explorers, these properties will combine architectural grace and locally inspired design. As part of our global portfolio, these properties will continue to celebrate their cultural identities while offering guests the elevated service and immersive experiences that define The Luxury Collection.”

After the transition, it is expected to feature 41 spacious rooms and suites, decorated with traditional Laotian craftsmanship, refined materials and private balconies or patios with views of the surrounding hills. Planned improvements are planned to further enhance the guest experience while protecting the architectural identity of the property.

Culinary plans include the anticipated opening of ‘La Brasserie de la Résidence’, which brings together classic French bistro cuisine and an exploratory Laotian menu, complemented by open kitchens and a poolside terrace overlooking the golden temple of Mount Phousi. Other planned hotel facilities include an outdoor pool, fitness center, outdoor yoga deck and spa, a newly introduced wellness center. Two meeting rooms and a specially curated shopping boutique will also complete the new offering.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is defined by its French colonial architecture, saffron-robed monks, sacred monasteries and enduring spiritual traditions. The destination is served by Luang Prabang International Airport (approximately 4.9 km from the hotel) and Luang Prabang Railway Station (approximately 11.6 km away), with regional high-speed connections.
