Maren Morris describes co-parenting with Ryan Hurd, dating after divorce
Maren Morris is “bringing it together” with ex-husband Ryan Hurd when it comes to their co-parenting dynamic.
“The coparenting thing is going well,” Morris, 34, revealed during the Wednesday, September 25, episode of the “Armchair expertpodcast. “We’re doing our best this way, but it’s still pretty fresh.”
Morris and Hurd, 37, announced their divorce in October 2023 after five years of marriage. The exes, who share three-year-old son Hayes, finalized their divorce in January. The former spouses last reunited on September 18 to cheer on their son at a tennis match.
“Parents of a future Federer,” Morris wrote via Instagram alongside a photo with Hurd. She alluded to her son’s greatness by referencing the tennis icon Roger Federer in the caption.
In addition to being a current mother and co-parent, Morris says she feels “very creative” since divorcing and leaving country music in the rearview mirror. She teased, “There’s a lot to write about, but also a freedom.”
Some of the inspiration for her new songs comes from her life outside of touring, trying and failing to date. Morris noted that she does not want to “tour 280 days a year” and would rather be “at home” and be a “good mother and also have a social life.”
She added that she has “nothing to write about” if she doesn’t take care of her love life. “If I don’t go on the dating show, there’s no album,” Morris, who publicly came out as bisexual in June, told podcast host Dax Shepard. “The well must be filled in this way.”
Morris revealed that using Raya to meet someone new was “interesting.” The ‘Girl’ singer said there is ‘such vulnerability’ in using an app, and confessed that she ‘felt ashamed’ until she saw a certain A-lister also on Raya.
“It’s hard to meet people in this industry. Add the element of children to that and it’s difficult,” she shared.
Last month, Morris sparked relationship rumors when she spent time with her Perfect match star Justin Asada. The pair turned heads on August 28 when Morris appeared on Assada’s Instagram Story, captioning it “Scary Movies + Sushi.”
Morris was pictured sipping a drink as he strolled into a booth at the restaurant. The outing caused a stir among the musician’s fans, especially afterward People reported on September 2 that they are indeed dating.
Morris and Assada have remained quiet about the romance speculation and We weekly has contacted their teams for comment.
