Marcus Mumford says Taylor Swift was ‘phenomenal house guest’

Taylor Swift was a dream house guest while recording her hit 2020 album Always bee Marcus Mumford‘s home studio.

Speaking on Wednesday, November 12, episode of the ‘Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware’ podcast, the Mumford & Sons frontman recalled how Swift’s producer, Aaron Dessnercontacted him to ask if the pop superstar could use his personal studio, which is located on Mumford and his wife’s farm Carey Mulligan own in Devon, England.

“Aaron called me and said, ‘I’ve got someone I work with who needs a studio in the UK’. And I thought, ‘Cool. Well, if it’s one of your friends, then I’m sure it’ll work out fine. What is that?’ Beyonce or something?” Mumford, 38, recalls. ‘He was looking for a discreet studio in London. I thought, ‘I don’t think there really are.’ And he said, ‘Can they come and use yours?’

“And it was Taylor Swift. She came down right at the end of COVID and was the most phenomenal house guest,” Mumford praised the “Fate of Ophelia” singer. “I burned a lot of vegetables for her. And she brought a great candle. Her candle making was excellent. And she made the second half of Always in our studio, which was really sweet.”

“And then she asked me to sing on one [of the songs] and I said yes,” he added, referring to performing background vocals on the Always song ‘Cowboy Like Me’.

While Swift, 35, was an ideal guest, the singer’s friend Zoe Kravitz recently revealed how she and mother Lisa Bonet Swift’s bathroom was “completely destroyed” as they sought shelter in her Los Angeles home in January amid California’s wildfires.

The drama occurred when Bonet’s pet snake, Orpheus, went missing from Swift’s house.

“I was packing up my things and I told my mom, ‘I want to be a good guest. I like to leave places better than I found them. I don’t want her to even know we were here,'” Kravitz, 36, recalled on Late Night with Seth Meyers in August.

“So I was kind of cleaning up, and I’m downstairs, and she’s upstairs, and my phone rings. It’s my mom. I’m like, ‘That’s weird because we’re in the same house,'” Kravitz continued. “I answer the phone and she says, ‘Hi,’ and I say, ‘Your voice is super high.’ And she says, ‘I’m in a bit of trouble. Can you come up?’ I go upstairs and the bathroom door is closed, so I open the bathroom door and she’s crouched in the corner in this weird way.

“I was like, ‘What’s going on, dude?’” Kravitz explained. “And she says, ‘So… I was washing my face and I had Orpheus, and I put her down for a minute, closed the door and she found a little hole in the corner.'”

“My mother is holding the tail of the snake. They’re all muscles, they’re very, very strong. I don’t know what to do. I think, ‘Okay, maybe this hole is going to go in the drawers.’ So I lie down on the floor and take out the drawers. No,’ she said. ‘Starting to panic. As it happens, the snake gets further and further.” [into the hole]. I panicked so much that my mother liked to say, “If I had both hands, I would have punched you.” I panicked. I’m like, ‘Mom, I can’t take you anywhere!’”

Swift’s house manager eventually helped out, Kravitz revealed.

“He gets a crowbar and has to take this banquet apart. We tear up the tiles. We scratch the walls,” the actress said. “I completely destroyed Taylor’s bathroom and there was a moment where I thought, ‘Either we destroy her bathroom or I have to tell her there’s a snake somewhere in her house.'”
